The speed sensor have relation with the transmition if is automatic uses a different computer than the manual transmition, the configuration is totally different. you must change the computer and check also the cluster because is networked with the electrical system of the computer. some times you have to replace that one also and the wire harness also. good luck

SOURCE: 2005 ToyotaCamry fault code P0500 Vehicle Speed sensor Malfuction

They are not the sensors you want. The car uses the abs wheel sensors for vehicle speed. Your problem lies in the abs system , possibly the left front sensor, abs ecu or speedo cluster, Clear the code and see if it stay out otherwise you'll need to go to a trusted technician. .

SOURCE: 2004 Chevy Blazer O2 Sensor

there are two 02 sensors actually on the engine. bank one is cylinders 1 3 5 bank 2 is 2 4 6. it controls the fuel to air ratio, if the O2 sensor is not working, the engine goes into limp mode, which means it is just putting as much fuel as possible into the cylinder, which will effect your gas mileage.

The O2 sensor may be fine, the pigtails off the 02 sensor go bad, the connection. I had in my car, i change the 02 sensor twice, then I found someone said the pigtails may be bad, so I cut the cars wiring harness pigtail, and the one coming off the 02 sensor, and directly wired it with the original truck 02 sensor, and it worked. all 02 sensors look similar, they screw in the side of the engine, and just have 4 wires coming off of it.

Try your origional one, and just bypassing the original wire connector, what I did was cut it off, skinned the wires, put some heat shrink rap on it, combined the wires together soldered them together, and heated the wire shrink rap, so that way it is water proof. car works perfect now.

92 olds 88 royale why am I having to manually shift my automatic transmission low to overdrive and I have no odometer, speedometer, cruise control?

Is there a check engine light on? If so, have the computer scanned for trouble codes that may point you in the right direction. If no light on, there still may be codes stored in the history portion of the computer. Possibly a vehicle speed sensor problem.

i had this issue with my 1994 wrx after changing the gear box. on the side of the gear box where the speedo screws in it has a little flat piece that has to go correctly in to a little groove. so if you undo that nut take it out and put it back in it should solve the problem. it can be quite fiddly and mite take a couple of gos because its hard to tell when its in corectly as it still does up when its not but once done the engine light will go off and it will run normaly again.

What is a Vehicle Speed Sensor and what happens if it fails?

Back in the 1990s car companies switched from using a speedo cable to using a speed sensor. The sensor is mounted in the side of the transmission and measures axle speed for the speedometer and the computer.

Yes.
The speed sensor in the transmission gives the computer data to control fuel mixture and timing, and it also drives the speedo and odometer.
The sensor would need to be tested.

An improperly functioning input speed sensor or output speed sensor may result in the following conditions:
^ "Check Engine" light on
^ Harsh P-R or P-D engagement shock
^ Transaxle in 3rd gear fail-safe
^ Diagnostic trouble codes 1. Using a GDS, check for DTCs in both the "Engine" and "Automatic Transaxle" menus. Record the DTC and description.
2. From the GDS, select:
^ Vehicle
^ "Auto Transaxle" menu
^ "Current Data"
^ "Input speed sensor" and "output speed sensor". Drive the vehicle and monitor the input and output speed sensors. If the sensors show:
^ Continuous output, the wiring currently has no open/shorts. Go to Step 6.
^ No output, go to Step 3
3. Check the wiring harness visually for an open circuit or short circuit to ground. Check for a pinched harness at the PCM/TCM attachment bolts.
4. Disconnect the connectors at the input and output speed sensor and PCM/TCM. Check for bent pins or pins not fully inserted into the connector.
5. If a harness open/short is found, repair or replace the ECM control harness between the PCM/TCM and transaxle and go to Step 8. If not, go to Step 6.

Speedo works intermitently 99 outback legacy

I had to replace my vehicle speed sensor in my 98 Legacy GT. you can unscrew it from the transmission and hook it up to a drill to spin it and it will show the RPM's on the speedo, but it could be the sensor or the speedo head. The sensors are around $120, and having a speedo repaired can be a few hundred at the max. It's most likely the vehicle speed sensor only because that is usually the problem nine times out of ten. I hope this info helps.

It IS NOT Advisable to Drive this Vehicle Untill This Problem is AT LEIST DIAGNOSED, You Need A MANUAL OIL Pressure TEST, to Determine If OIL PRUSSURE is SAFE @ >>Oil Pressure at idle speed with engine at operating temp.min. bar 0.5 Regulated Pressure bar 4.3
If it Is ok First On List Is Oil Pressure Sensor But if it's Low> Replace

93 subaru legacy gt cuts out at around 100kph check engine light comes on, restart car and it is fine. car is a auto and doesnt seem to do it as much if car is in 3rd instead of drive

Check The Vehicle Speed Sensors.

The Legacy has 2 Vehicle Speed Sensors (VSS): VSS1 is located inside of the transaxle; VSS2 is located in the combination meter assembly.

VSS1
  1. Disconnect the electrical harness from the transaxle.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter across the transaxle's electrical harness terminals 9 and 16.
  3. The resistance should be 450-650 ohms.
  4. After testing, reconnect the electrical harness.
VSS2
  1. Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the speedometer cable from the instrument cluster.
  3. Connect an ohmmeter or continuity tester across the combination meter terminals 7 and 11.
  4. Insert a small screwdriver in the speedometer cable drive socket.
  5. Rotate the speedometer drive and note the continuity across the VSS terminal. Continuity should turn ON/OFF 4 times per speedometer drive revolution.
