SOURCE: 2003 Chevy S10 won't start

Are you sure its the starter? did you try it in neutral? could be park neutral switch, or ignition switch, or if its a standard shift maybe it has a switch on clutch that it has to be depressed to start and its bad. As far as jump starting you cross the maine or big post on starter to small or little post on starter to do that, on a v6 starter it on the right side under exhaust manafold, and i think its on the same side on a 4 cyl.

SOURCE: tryed to start truck and it would not crank. i

I'm assuming you have a no-crank condition. check interlock relay and safety interlock. Safety interlock is on shifter if you have automatic. It's on the clutch pedal arm if you have manual. Interlock relay should be in engine compartment relay box. You can bypass both of these and the ignition switch by jumping the solenoid. See troubleshooting procedures here:
and let me know if you have questions.

SOURCE: when i turn the key

It is one of 2 things. Frist get undernesath the truck with a hammer and on the pass side you will be able to see the starter have someone hold the key in the crank postion and bang on the starter if that works then you need a starter. If not then check the big blue relay on the pass side fender wall in the engine compartment. It will look diffrent then any other relay becaus eit is a double connector and it is blue. You can not miss it.

There is a dead short to ground on that circuit . There are videos on youtube showing how to find an fix a short . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? How to find automotive electrical shorts Look at the wiring harness under the hood for rubbed through wire's , harness going to the PCM , also find out what if any thing else is powered by that fuse . Which PCM fuse ? There are a few PCM 1 , PCM B , etc...

PCM 1 Fuse
Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor, Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid, Fuel Composition Sensor, Secondary Fuel Pump Relay

PCM B Fuse
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Any one of these fuse will cause the engine not to crank . The PCM energizes the starter relay which supply's power to the starter .

Truck ran fine shut off started 4hrs later would not click or anything. took out starter tested bad replaced starter ,new one does samething does not even click.

you have a master fuse in the truck under the hood in the fuse box the fuse should be about a 20 amp usually very big check this fuse to make sure that it has not blown.

check your fuses/relays for starter,if both are good then check to see if the ground cable is connected to engine block. if that is good then remove starter and jump test to see if it is any good. u can still get a bad starter even if it is new.

Truck quit - was in fusable links-fixed one -truck started-cut it off-when try to restsrt no power anywhere-replaced all fuse links-hooked battery up -still no power anywhere

This used to be a common problem. Check to see that you didn't install the power feed wire for the truck on the wrong side of the starter relay. You should only have one wire on one large post. The one wire should be the one going to the starter. If any other wires are there they need to be moved to the other large post on the relay with the battery cable attached.

Truck turns over but wont start.. just replaced starter but ran prior to the old starter breaking down

Check the fuses. You may have blown one if you arched(saw sparks) the starter wires during removal and instalation.

Ground problem

You probably have a bad ground. Check it at the starter and at the solonoid. usally just lossen and wiggle wires several times. then tighten. I found most of the fors are at the starter.
