91 ford explorer turns over , tries to start

The catalytic converter or muffler maybe plugged up. This is based on the engine getting fuel and fire to the plugs. I would remove the 02 sensor ahead of the cat. and see if truck will start, be aware if it does start it will run rough. When the cat or muffler get blocked off it puts back pressure on the engine and thus not allow fuel into the cyl. to fire.

Can't get the starter out pass the cat on my 1987 corvette as shown in repair manual

My manual (Chilton) says to remove the front starter support bracket and heat shield, loosen the starter bolts and lower the front end of the starter first. It comes out the front not the traditional back way. Hope this helps.

Why is my starter keep burnin up

because its a ford ! no just kidding its common with those starters because of the cat converters and exhaust giving off a lot of heat there try buying your own starter at autozone or pepboys and asking for the one with the lifetime warranty its more money but as long as you have the receipt you will get a free replacement hope this helps

I just change the battery and cables on my 96 lincon town car and it started fine but after it runs for 20mins or so and you turn it off then it will not crank (no turning of starter at all) a hour later...

i think the starter is getting too hot. either heat from the exhaust manifold or cat. converter. check where the bat. cable connects to the starter. that little part is getting too hot. making the starter not work. you might replace the starter but after a short time it will do it again.

STARTER REMOVAL

gear position sensor is on pass side of trans behind cat. the wiring runs over top of the trans. This repair needs a lift. shop will prob charge about 3 hrs labor. starter should be done from under car also. both should be done at shop, you will spend forever working on it at home.
