"Service engine soon" light came on in my 2009

"Service engine soon" light came on in my 2009 Mitsubishi Gallant. Had it checked and the following code was given: "Radiator Sensor 2". What does that mean and how do I fix it?

Based on what the tech manuals say I would change the DPFE sensor for the EGR Valve, careful not to tear the special silicone rubber hoses that go to it from the exhaust, as a Ford dealer tech I saw these codes allot, and the DPFE sensor was almost always the issue or the hoses going to it.

In most cases this means the O2 sensor is defective.

SOURCE: Engine coolant temperature is lower than thermostat

This happens when the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) does not reach 75°C (167°F) despite sufficient engine warm-up time.

This happens usually when the thermostat/temperature sensor is faulty, and is bad for emissions and fuel consumption.

The repair cost may vary, even if themperature sensor is not an expensive part, after replacing the sensor there is need to reset the ECU (car computer module).

It NEVER was the camshaft sensor! Unless, you've removed the engine lately, which I doubt.
RUN to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" and add to your gas tank per instructions...drive at least 100 miles and the problem should go away...IF it doesn't you'll have to replace the O2 sensors in the exhaust system...Any good mechanic should be able to do this for much less $$ than the dealership DO NOT go to the dealer for repairs!
Good Luck

SOURCE: po452 trouble code changed sensor engine light

you may have to drive it several days for the light to go off, or have the codes cleared. personally I would just drive it. if the computer tests it, and it passes the test, it will go off on its own.

Check the crankshaft sensor, that may be your problem, if you would list the code you got i could help some more, just because you got a cam code doesnt mean the cam sensor is bad, check the wiring also from the sensor.

How do I reset the service engine soon light?

two ways you can do it. First it would be best to find someone with a code reader to find out what the code is ,some times aout parts stores will check the code for you and maybe even clear it for you.otherwise unhook one of your battery cables for a little while and the check engine light will go off untill what ever set it off sets it off again note unhooking the battery will clear your radio stations

It could be the tanks are letting loose. It has plastic tanks with an aluminum core, right? The tanks eventually lose their seal and you will start to lose coolant through small voids, which can eventually become big voids. You can remove the radiator and take it to a radiator shop to have it bench flow-tested. But i don't know of any radiator leak causing a service light to come on. Those are factory pre-set to make you come in for sceduled maintenance.

Hope this helps,
matt

2005 gallant with O2 sensor engine light is one...how do I fix it?

have the engine light code scanned, and it'll tell you if it's bank 1 sensor 1, bank 1 sensor 2, bank 2 sensor 1, bank 2 sensor 4.

Bank 1 is on the same side as Cylinder 1
Bank 2 is on the opposite side of Cylinder 1

Sensor 1 is located before the catalytic converter.
Sensor 2 is located after the catalytic converter

My service engine soon light came on 2003 gallant this morning while it was warming up. Is this a service notice that needs to be done or is it acutally the computer telling me something IS wrong? service...

The Service Engine Soon light is a notice from the vehicles on-board computer that a problem has been detected somewhere, and service is required. You can isolate the problem by having the "trouble code" displayed for you at an auto parts store for FREE to determine the exact problem, and possible causes. This should be done FIRST, so that you strategically approach the problem directly instead of spending unnecessary money "guessing or assuming". If you are trying to save a few bucks, you may want to invest in a Chilton's manual for you vehicle as well for step-by-step repair, and diagnostic info specifically for your vehicle. I hope this helps,...and good luck!!
