2006 grand prix heater works eventually but takes a long time and it is only warm. once i turn the blower down it gets cold again?


First check to see that the heater hoses from the engine that go to the heater core under the hood get hot, they should be hot enough that you can't touch them for more than a few seconds. If they are cool to the touch the engine is not reaching proper operating temperature. if they are hot then the most common issue would be that the air temperature control blend door (controls airflow over the hot heater core and cold AC evaporator core) is not moving or is only moving a little, this means the dash must be removed from the car to access the defective blend door and its actuator motor.

Are the heater controls cable operated? You would need to look under the dash and see if the cables are still attached and still functioning when heater controls are moved. The cables will attach to doors to direct heat out.

Grand heater control


nothing.....??? what year, GRAND? all cars are wired different !!!
what do you want to work right. ????
say all that works and not.
heater fan?
heat? dead.
A/C dead>?
or does nothing mean the interior park/dim lights are dead, ALL?
please state one function that is dead.
i do not understand the security thing. where is it in the dash
are you talking the dash lamps are out.?

Heater core 1991 grand marquis


This may be one of those where the entire dash has to come out to do the heater core.
But you only want to replace the core if it is plugged, or leaking. There is an easy way to tell if it is plugged: with the engine at normal operating temperature, and the control valve open so coolant will circulate, now feel both heater hoses. If core is blocked, only one hose will be hot. If core is circulating correctly, both hoses will be hot. If they are, you don't need to change out the core. One of your vacuum actuated doors is the problem, the blend door that lets air from the blower motor pass over and around the heater core.

Removal & Installation

The heater core is removable from under the right side of the instrument panel.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Position a drain pan under the radiator, open the drain **** and drain the cooling system to a level below the heater core.

Plug the heater core tubes to avoid spilling coolant in the passenger compartment during removal.

  1. Disconnect the heater-to-engine coolant hoses from the core tubes on the firewall, in the engine compartment.

If necessary, loosen and remove the under dash cabin light retaining bolt

With the bolt removed, the light and housing may be repositioned out of the way


On some early model vehicles, the cabin light mounted under the dash may interfere with cover removal. If necessary, loosen the retaining bolt and reposition the light housing with the wiring attached.

  1. From the passenger compartment (under the dash) remove the heater core rear case cover-to-cowl screws, then remove the cover from the vehicle.

Be sure that all are removed before attempting to remove the cover. If necessary, unbolt and reposition all/part of the dashboard for better access.

  1. Remove the straps or brackets from each end of the heater core.
  2. Carefully remove the heater core from the cowl and case.

To install:

  1. Insert the heater core into the case, taking care not to damage the tubes as they are inserted through the cowl.
  2. Install the straps or brackets to the ends of the heater core and secure using the retaining screws.
  3. Install the heater core rear case cover and secure using the retaining screws.
  4. If moved for access, reposition and secure the dash mounted cabin light and housing.
  5. Connect the heater-to-engine coolant hoses to the core tubes.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable, then properly refill the engine cooling system.
  7. Run the engine at normal operating temperatures and check for leaks.

I have a 2000 jaguar s-type Climate control does work


Jaguar S-type 2000 fabrication year is equiped with:
1. Control system = Automatic temperature control
2. System layout = Single evaporator - dual zone
3. Refrigerant circuit type = Expansion valve
General information:
1. System control
1.1. Compressor operation controlled by refrigerant pressure sensor.
1.2. Compressor will not operate if refrigerant level is low!
1.3. System incorporates an A/C evaporator temperature sensor.
1.4. System incorporates an engine coolant heater regulator valve.
1.5. A/C control module incorporates self-diagnosis function.
1.6. The A/C control module fault memory can only be accessed and erased using diagnostic equipment connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC). See picture below:

1.8. Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will iluminate if certain ECM faults are recorded.
1.9. The ECM fault memory can only be accessed and erased using diagnostic equipment connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC).

That toggle switch is for the security system. That year miata never came with any switches for the soft top of any kind. Most likely that is an aftermarket alarm system. Most factory alarm systems do not come with a toggle switch.

No heat , fan runs on speeds 3,4and 5 not on 1 or2


coolant flows thru heater core all the time temp is controlled by doors.you have a blockage in core,try removing hoses and backflushing heater core probably a little bit of scale stopping inlet.the fan speed is probably the blower resistor it is locateed next to blower motor under dash check the plug they burn up
