I have a 95 impala i changed my radiator,water

I have a 95 impala i changed my radiator,water pump & hoses i changed everything on the car to stop making it run hot...but now it doesn't run hot but the water in my reservoir tank is keep boiling & my water hose never get hard

Sounds like your coolant is not circulating for some reason. Typically it's the thermostat that blocks the flow. If turning on the heater inside helps the car not overheat then your coolant is not flowing. Other issues can be a water pump that isn't working, air in the system that has not been bleed out, engine head broken (blocked).

I have had this problem with my 98 aurora and have replaced all the same components. Temp gauge routinely shows 200 on highway (Fine) but in the city in stop and go will get to around 245. I installed a switch to manually turn on the cooling fans by connecting the ground to pin 86 in the relay for the fan(s). Otherwise the fans will not turn on to 245. This fix works but would like to know an actual solution.

hi jasso, I would recommend checking the water pump if you see no flow in the radiator. Make sure when you fill up the cooling system, that you fill it cold, and that the vent screw in the radiator is loose. fill system until fluid comes out the vent screw. tighten the screw, start the car and have someone run at 1500rpm and check for flow.also, make sure that you have your temp setting full hot and blower on middle speed so that you don't trap air in the heater core.

yes, not having an overflow reservoir for your radiator will cause you to lose water. As your engine warms up the water expands and creates pressure in the cooling system. When the pressure reaches a certain point(usually about 15 psi.) the radiator releives the pressure by releasing water into the overflow tank. When the engine cools back down the water shrinks pulling water back into the radiator from the overflow. If there is no overflow, the everytime the engine warms up on a drive water will be lost and not recovered on cooldown.

I had the same problem, whole new radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, and still overheating. What the problem was for me...bad radiator cap...all that money and a $20 fix...try it?

the water pump and thermostat should have solved it. an air pocket can cause that but usually not to that degree.

don't get one of those cheap *** plastic impeller water pump for sissies. Get the metal impeller one. get a cool running thermostat and drill two 3/16" holes in it 180 degreess from each other. you may have installed the t-stat backwards.

Chevy impala overheating


If it is running hot in a short distance, I would check the water pump to find out if it is pumping coolant thru the system. It should run for 5-10 min before the thermostat would be a problem.

Last year my 2005 Chevy Impala water pump went out I change the water pump thermostat and that was it change thermostat free other times after that do the bad thermostats the overheating never really...


If you have changed the water pump AND the radiator AND the thermostat and still have the problem then the hoses should be checked to be sure they are not collapsing, also make sure that the coolant is 50/50 water and coolant and the thermostat is installed right.

2000 chevy impala overheats i think its something electric


I doubt its anything electric.
Are you sure the radiator is full of coolant ?
Do both radiator hoses get hot when the thermostat opens at 195 degrees ?
Do both heater hoses get hot after running the engine for 5 min ?

1988 b2200 is overheating--we've changed out the lower radiator hose, thermostat, and the upper hose is fine. Why is it overheating? Radiator, heat pump, or water pump?


!st check and make sure the water is flowing in the radiator, then check

Sounds like you have an air;lock in your cooling system.Try placing a bleeder on the return hose to the heater core ........looks like a small tap

03 impala 3.4 runs hot and redlines cools when driving fans work also no heat in winter unless driving could these be the water pump


yes and also have your thermostat changed. but heres a way you can check before you buy these things:
#1 car must be cool
#2 let car warm up with hood open
#3 find upper radiator hose and put hand around it...you should feel any water running through it!
#4 after car warms to normal op temp, put hand around hose again and give it a squeeze...it should feel Hot and you should be able to detect a slight water back pressure..this will mean that both your pump and thermostat are working correctly. Also it is imperative that you read my tips and tricks on Dex-cool antifreeze, please, you could save thousands of $$$.

the best thing to get is the Haynes manual for your car at advanced auto or autozone or somewhere like that and the book will tell you how to take everything apart and put it back. i think the manual is about $16.00
