Question about 2007 Hyundai Sonata 2.0
The recliner only goes up, not down, needless to say, it has given me a very uncomfortable ride lately. The forward and backward motors work. I have little to no electrical experience, and have no clue where to go for a new one.
Sounds like the switch is broken. You probably have to go to an auto wrecker and get a used switch to replace it with. Some popular cars have new switches sold on the internet. Your last option is buying a new switch from the dealer which is typically the most expensive option. Changing the switches is pretty easy.

SOURCE: Veracruz driver seat
Sorry to tell you, but if we're talking about an electrically operated seat, there's no short cut....The seat will have to be removed and then you'll have to sort out why the motor reversal does not work....Could be a bad connection..... If it's a manual operation then you'll have to find out where its stuck....

hi this sounds like the coiled spring that is enclosed behind the cover where the recline lever is it has either broken or the pin it locates on has snapped or spring has for some reason slipped its fastening ? try removing cover and investigate the spring and its locator points

The control switch has developed a problem (intermittent contact or just broke inside) Replace the switch. That should fix it.

the switch in the drivers seat is bad. very common. if you had access to some good jumper wires you could jump across the motor circuit and make the seat go up but you would have to be a good " doityourselfer" . that switch isn't hard to replace though. you will also need a new sunvisor. it should be held up with two screws that are hidden by a plastic trim piece.
