SOURCE: How do I change the

Hi Dave
If you have changed the spark plugs and you still have a misfire then I agree, the next logical step is to replace the leads. Before you go to the expense of buying a full set, you should be able to identify which individual lead / leads are causing you the problem. Firstly remove all covers so that you can see the leads clearly, now wait until after dark or if you have a dark garage. (the darker the better) Lift the bonnet and start the car. This is better if you have someone in the car who can rev it up whilst you look under the bonnet. If you have a faulty lead, then as the engine is reved up you will see a blue spark jumping from your lead to the engine block, this could range from a very bright to a vary faint spark, that is why it is better to do this in the darkest place possible. This spark means that the lead insulation has broken down and the current is going to earth and not your spark plug. You need to inspect your leads very thoroughly along their entire length, taking care not to touch them or you will receive a nasty electric shock. If you find that your leads are in good condition, you could have a crack in your distributor cap. This would give the same syptoms.

2000 Volvo V70 (B5244S) - what transmission service/fluid needed

Do you have an Automatic tranny With 4 speed (AW4), or an Automatic With 5 speed (AW5) With a "Flush & Change" there is no reason to drop pan and change filter...the flush and change does it without removing any parts. I would stick with your "in-town guy"!

Replace the cat you have ran it for years with a bad 02 sensor so now replace it and you will get better performance and better gas miliage. Never run a check engine light fo a long time it's telling you something is wrong. youer lucky you did not destroy the engine.

Engine Idle speed

Yes that is most likely normal for your car. But there you could be other factors playing into the potential high idle, for example if your timing is off the computer could be compensating by advancing spark. When was your last tune up done?

What is the size of a Volvo v70 engine?

There are 3 engine choices in the 98 volvo v70. All are 5 cylinders, 1. 2.3L turbo
2. 2.4L MFI DOC
3.2.4L Turbo
#2 is the most common engine for that year and model. If your engine doesn't have a turbo, that's the one u have.
