Question about 2002 Audi A4
My windows will only roll down from the driver side control. It doesn't matter if the lock is lit up or not. My driver window wont roll down at all and this all started when I pushed the lock button for the first time. Any ideas?
You are totally confussed here and i suggest you ask a local mechanic to have a look for you ,you may need a new switch mechanism on the door from the sound of it ,these cars can be a bit funny as if you hold the key in the door lock in the open position for a few seconds then the window opens or closes depending on the key movement ,and guess what its all electronic so maybe its the switch mechanism thats had a heart attack in its dear sweet electronic brain causing your problem

I have the same problem with the window stuck half way. But about the drivers door not locking, it is not supposd to. It is a Audi saftey feature so you do not lock your keys in the car. You have to lock the whole car with the remote on the key or by putting the key in the lock and doing it manually. Also when you hold the key in the unlock position for a sec it puts all the windows down and when you hold it in te lock it puts the windows up.

first off check to make sure that all of the other windows work properly if not check the fuse. if they do work you are going to have to start troubleshooting the window that is bad like the wiring check to see if it is all firmly in place and there is no bare wires that might be shorting the window out then you will want to have the motor for the window tested to see if this is bad ok? if your warranty is still valid use it
best regards mike

there are many reasons , but the most common is a worn and week motor or a ground problem giving too low voltage , or the window guides are worn too thin . best thing to do is put a voltage meter on the motor and roll up the window , look for voltage increases or voltage drop .

Replace the switch. It has lost connection to the up position.
