AC controls stopped working

The rear defrost is an electric switch for the defroster in the rear glass.
If you turn on the ac and do not get cold air, the first thing to check is if the compressor is running. If not, you could be low on freon or have an electrical problem in the circuit for the ac clutch.
If the compressor is running and one of the ac lines is ice cold, you could have a blend door problem under the dash.

AC is only blowing through the defrost vents in the dashboard?

I think your problem is the head unit that selects where the air comes out ie. Face, floor, defrost, or hi-level face and floor. If that's not working then it will not let you switch location that you want the air to come out.

Water leaking coming down over four wheel drive unit

the condensation from the ac canister there is a little spout that comes out of the fire wall and when you use your ac or defrost the ac compresser will kick in to take out the moister in the air when using the defrost setting, the water or condensation that builds on the inside will drain out of the spout and thats probly what your seeing either that or u have a bad heater core.

I I have a 98 plymouth breeze i get a swish sound

The AC Clutch is going and is slipping, thus the swishing sound..sorry. When the Defrost or AC is turned on the Clutch is Engaged. And yes the AC Unit replacement is recommended over trying to have the Clutch replaced. Most mechanics won't even try rebuilding an AC Unit.

Car turns off if ac or window deforst turn on even low setting

Well, The problem seems to be the AC unit. When you activate window defrost the ac unit also activates for some reason. Disconnect the wires from the AC unit and turn on the defrost, if the engine doesn't stop then you know that is the problem, if it does die then you have a vacum problem.

Air conditioning blows through defrost vents only

AC blows where you have your control switch set,if it only comes out your defroster have the vacuum check at the blend air doors or if you have a faulty heater control unit.
