Question about 1997 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

1 Answer

I have a 2000 chevy s10, 2.2 auto, I just replaced the transmission and completed the project. The shifter on the column would go through all gears before changing the transmission. now I cannot get the shifter to come out of park even with the cable off, any ideas

There is a sensor that fits over the linkage that may be your problem. I experienced pretty much the same thing. Costs about $70.00 to replace. I have a new one and would give it to you if I could get it to you!

New 1969 c4 auto transmission has park but no reverse or netural

Is it possible the transmission was not made for a Mustang ?
With the shifter on the floor, the linkage would be different than a car with the shifter on the column.
Have you contacted the company ?

1993 bronco auto, shifter handle on the column is completely lose and will not engage transmission gears

The nylon bushings and plunger in the shift tube assembly is worn and needs to be replaced... I would replace the whole assy. because it's the best way to get ALL the slack out and they aren't that expensive...The shift tube and plunger work together. After you install the parts you can adjust to where your shift indicator needle is lined up with the letters and numbers on the dash. You have to drop the steering column to get to everything, remember to disconnect the little string that runs from the back of the shifter up to the needle indicator before you lower the column down to rest on the seat...if you don't it will break! I hope this helps...good luck with the Bronco.

1964 c20 chevy p/u 3spd on the column .the shifter gets hung up in 1st and/or reverse when trying to shift to 3rd/4th any pictures available on line @ no cost that shows and tells steering column...

the older column shifters can be a problem, look at where the shifter arms hook to the transmission
there should be some plastic bushings on the end of each arm that nay be worn out and cause this problemtry replacing these bushings first when they are worn they won't align the shifter arms to lighn up for the next gear and the trans will have a tendency to hang between gears

Either the pin that connects rod to tranny is broken off, or there is internal transmission problems.
