Ford tractor how to check glow plug 3930 - Cars & Trucks

General help here. I checked the fuse box diagram and there is nothing specific to glow plugs.

Check the flow at the fuel pump,a filter generally doesn't go bad/plug up within a minute so it may be the pump.Check flow to the pump from the tank also.

Get a Ford ignition switch

Are the glow plugs single or dual wire if they are twin or dual wire one wire is positive and one is negative. I will base this on twin wire
I hope it is a negative earth system as I won't bother with positive earth instructions at this stage.
Get a multi-meter that has alligator clips on the cables attach black to a good ground then with the solenoid power wire removed on the starter (so it wont crank) get someone to hold the ignition switch in the on position, then test each pair of wires one will show voltage this is the positive one (mark each positive wire) now release the starter switch and change the multi-meter to ohms test the wires that did not show as active they should show good low resistance (hopefully 0) connection. now you can reinstall the glow plugs making sure positive on the glow plugs is paired with active positive wires that were marked then attach ground wires to the glow plugs.
Reattach the solenoid power wire and try starting it

extremely hot power steering pumps indicate pump under extreme pressure all the time and high pressure oil movement
could be faulty pressure relief valve in the pump
as to removal of the pump disconnect the oil lines and remove ant mounting bolts
for specifics then talk with a ford tractor service center

I would check the glow plug system. Make sure that the glow plug relay is working and if thats ok. I would check each individual glow plug and replace if needed.

you are right the glow plug system should be on not after the engine starts, i suspect the timer is bad or has been bypassed,

Check the fuse first then check the wire harness and connection working your way back from the glow plug to the fuse box. Good luck and hope this helps. If everything is good then replace the glow plugs.
