The problem started while towing a heavy load. It was intermitten at first and now when ever under heavy load the truck starts popping and missing. the lower the gear the less problems. at first it would only have problem in 5th gear and when I down shifted the problem went away

WITH OUT MORE INFO YOU NEED TO CHECK MOTOR ON A CODE READER FOR STORED FAULTS, CHECK ALL AIR LINES TO EMMISION CONTROL, , SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE GONE INTO SAFE MODE, A SPLIT OR LEAKING PIPE ON THE INTERCOOLER IS A COMON FAULT ON THESE, IF YOU SWITCH ENGINE OF AND BACK ON QUICKLY WITH MOTOR RUNNING WITH OUT STALLING MOTOR AND IT CLEARS THEN IT IS PROBERLY THE SAFE MODE CUTING IN MEANING A FAULT HAS BEEN SEEN BY PCM

I am having the same problem with my mustang, have replaced tps, egr valve and sensor, clean maf, new plugs and wires, new fuel filter, cleaned throtle body and still having same problems....Please help!!!!!

1 Ignition system not operating properly
2 Dirtyor clogged fuel injector(s).
3 Low fuel pressure. Check for proper operation of the fuel pump and for restrictions in the fuel filter and lines.
4 Fuel injectionor engine control systems malfunction.
5 Vacuum leak at the intake manifold or vacuum hoses.
6 Restricted air filter.
7 Fuel pump or pressure regulator defective.
