the check engine lite lets you know that the computer senses a problem and saves it as a code in memory and still leaves a code even when the light resets itself so the scanner should be able to retrieve it ---go to an auto store most offer a free scan and have them give you the code ---the code will be your start point towards correcting your problem
The check engine light is designed to function only when there is a engine fault. To turn this light off you will need to visit your auto parts store. Orielly's and Autozone both carry code scanners that you can barrow in the parking lot. And they may even come out and check the codes for you. Once the codes have been retrieved you have the option to reset the check engine light to turn it off. However, if the engine has a hard code or a faulty sensor the light may come back on immediately after you start the car. I would suggest having the codes read and the MIL reset and try to determine the issue causing the MIL to come on.
you can use the scanner to clear the computer or even disconnect the battery for a minute or two then reconnect it but if the light comes back it needs to be fixed to keep the light off. just fixing the problem won't turn the light off
P1647 Linear O2 Sensor Control Chip (Bank 2) P1646 Linear O2 Sensor Control Chip (Bank 1) U have a lean engine air/fuel mixture for unknown reasons, check for vacuum leaks.
the infomation u were given is 100% wrong! if the light is coming on then a problem exists in the OBD 2 engine control system, there will be a fault code stored for the check engine light, who told u this the dealer??
Must have engine computer scanned to get codes and determine cause of check engine light. Low tire light probably needs reset. Open passenger door and remove panel on side of dash. Reset switch should be located in that compartment.
Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. The list of possible codes number in the hundreds. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what engine parameter is out of normal range. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on. If you want to reset the light don't disconnect the battery cable, find a buddy with a code reader.
