Must be an OBD2 car, p1283 (your reader or autozoned readers)
P0 is USA federal standard codes.
P1 are factory (this car, this makers ) private codes.
what engine, never post , with no engine options,
if you dont kown what you are driving, then do a vin search on line
or post vin, or look under hood of car (USA) look up, see white sticker
there, it does show what engine is in the car.

2.4L or 3.7L engines. or diesel.

my online source, shows no 1283 only 1281,
but no engine stated. if diesel it has its own set of jeep codes, very unique.

first find out what you are driving.
the FSM explaines, the P0, P1 and P2 code reasons.

Go local Autozone and ask to read OBD error code for free.
or buy any cheap code reader/scanner for now and future use ($30 to $1000. $30 is enough)
It's called "OBD scanner" or "OBD code reader".

Other than that, nobody can tell you what was/is wrong with your car.
BTW, OBD error codes are different by manufacture and year/model.
after you buy code reader, google it with your year/make/model.
or Autozone reader may tell you in plain English (other than P0125, B0432, etc)

Fix cruise control

There is a 2amp cruise switch fuse, instrument panel fuse box. Your owners manual should show fuse box info.

There are many trouble codes for the cruise control system, check for applicable codes. To check codes, yourself, at the least you need an obd2 code reader that will read manufacturer specific codes as well as po codes. Some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free.

Just curious, do your brake lites work ok?

My 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 is idling at 800 rpm's, and my service engine soon light came on. The code read for a Chrysler? P1283, and Fuel pump module detected an incorrect low idle, low idle select...

Make sure you are looking up the code properly. 1283 for Nissan indicates a lean condition on bank 2. See link below. A vacuum leak is likely, but make sure the new sensor is recalibrated. Did you perform the relearn procedure after replacing the sensor? If not, see the second link below. If you ran the relearn procedure and cleared all codes but 1283 comes back, look for a loose vacuum line or leaky intake manifold gaskets. I canot read the codes on my 03 navigator

Why is that?
You need a code reader or someone
with one
Then you Google the codes,to find the system
& issues
You can't read Enhanced Codes or some manufacture
specific codes without professional software.

I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima GLE, I Failed the Emission Inspection (DTC) Diagnostic Trouble Codes of "P1492","P1105" What these Codes exactly? mean

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective compute
  • P1105MAP/BARO Pressure Switch Solenoid Valve
  • Check and clean the MAP sensor, or replace.
  • P1492EVAP Canister Purge Control/Solenoid Valve (Circuit)
  • Replacing the purge solenoid will clear code P1492 This should also clear code P0300 as well.

206 2001 petrol emlight comes on on jouneys over20 miles no code given on reader but resets ok any ideas thanks deane 20

To begin with, MANY codes cannot be accessed with a generic code reader. The code readers can only access the continuous memory codes. They cannot read manufacturer specific or one trip codes. So just because yoiur generic code reader is not reading any codes, this DOES NOT mean that there are no codes to be read. If the light is on, there are codes. Period! (unless there is a control module fault that must be corrected).

If you want to find out what is going on with your vehicle, the FIRST thing you need to do is to STOP CLEARING THE LIGHT! You are not only turning the light off, but you are also erasing important data that will be needed to properly diagnose the problem.

Get it checked by a trained technician with the proper equipment to access the engine data.

My 2001 cherokee will not start. the engine will turn over. the voltage is good but it reads nothing on the gauge, neither will the fuel. after a few seconds the odometer will read "no bus"

Hi, the no BUS is usually a seriuos issue with engine controller communication. Can you check and see what trouble code is stored in the PCM (engine comuter)? This code needs to be retrieved with a code reader available at most auto stores for around $40. If you can give me the code, I can tell you exactly what is wrong and what will be needed to repair your Jeep.
