Question about 1996 Honda Civic

Clutch fork comes out by hand

I bought a project car that the engine was taken out for cylinder repair. the engine is reinstalled by previous owner. while finishing engine compartment installs the clutch fork came out in my hand while trying to install clutch slave bolts. I cant find anything in the Chilton book explaining fork installation please help !!!

Purchase 2000 saab 9.3 2.0 turbo previous owner said replaced clutch etc without depressing clutch!!!engine running !!!shifter can be put in all positions 1 through 5 and Reverse..??no movement.


I suspect that the throw bearing carrier has been fitted on the wrong side of the throw out fork and has the pressure plate permanently disengaged.

I haven't go to Nissan Altima I just replace the clutch and the hydraulic slave cylinder but when the car is not running it will slide through the gears but when the car is running it won't go into any...


Make sure the throw out bearing is fitted to the clutch fork and the bearing is the same length as the old one , move the fork by hand to make sure it engages with the clutch pressure plate , if the slave cylinder rod has a adjustment nut adjust the free play at the fork to 1/8 inch . provided the clutch driven plate an throw out bearing are fitted ok and the hydraulic system is ok , it should be ok

With engine off, does the shifter get gears easily?
If so, it could be your hydraulic clutch. Check the fluid level on the clutch master cylinder's reservoir-on the firewall. If it is low, add brake fluid to it. If it was dry, you will probably have to bleed the hydraulic clutch down at the slave cylinder on the transmission bell housing.
When clutch pedal is pressed, the clutch master cylinder will force fluid down the line to the small slave cylinder. There, a small plunger is forced out (about an inch or less) from the slave cylinder, and pushes the clutch fork forward. The fork causes the clutch inside the bell housing to operate. Look for this movement of the slave cylinder pushing the clutch fork while someone presses down or pumps the clutch pedal. With the engine off, of course.

I have in my range rover 1996 year a clutch proble the pedal is down and dont come up self what to do


hi there are three possabilities to this one there could be a leak of fluid to the clutch master or slave cylinder check the footwel drivers side for a damp carpet or underneath the car for for any new leaks check the fluid level of your brakes and clutch as the resovoirs are often shared ,initially try topping the level up and bleeding the air from the slave cylinder near the gearbox to engine bell housing area and see if that improves things
Or a common fault with land rovers is the clutch fork may have snapped which requires the either engine or gearbox removal to replace the fork with a new one
Or the clutch thrust bearing has worn it way through the fingers of the clutch diaphragm and dropped through which also requires engine or gearbox removal to replace the clutch

Clutch suddenly has no resistance and car won't shift gears. Fluids were low, have put fluid in the reservoir but still doesn't work. How do you bleed a clutch line?


on the transmission there is a slave cylinder that works like a brake cylinder, when you apply pressure to the clutch pedal a rod inside the vehicle under the dash pushes into a clutch master cylinder, (almost like a brake master cylinder without the reservoir, as the clutch master cylinder works off the brake master cylinders reservoir) the plunger in the clutch master cylinder applies fluid pressure to the slave cylinder,(located down on the trans near the clutch fork assembly) which projects a piston rod into the clutch fork dis-engaging the clutch. To bleed the clutch slave cylinder locate the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder,break loose so it loosens and tightens easily. Check fluid in brake master cylinder reservoir,fill if needed, while bleeder on the slave cyl is closed have a helper push clutch pedal to floor and back 7-8 times, (At first the clutch might stay at the floor, just pull it up by hand or foot and continue) after several pumps with no rest time push pedal to the floor and hold down with foot pressure, at this time loosen the bleeder on slave untill fluid leaks out, watch for air bubbles, close bleeder and repeat untill there is no sign of air bubbles, (make sure to check fluid in the brake master cylinder and keep fill as needed, do not let fluid get less than 1/2 empty as it might **** air and you will have to start over) If this does not bring clutch to operate then you need to check if slave cylinder is reachig its full extension of push rod or not. If it is not then you will have to replace the clutch master cyl or the clutch slave cyl or both as seals are bad and wont hold pressure. Or you need to inspect the clutch fork,the throw-out bearing, or the pressure plate fingers and clutch plate for failure or broken bent parts. I hope it turns out to be a easy fix on that clutching thing.

Fork engaging slave cylinder from tranny. (91 3000GT, mitsu)


Called a clutch fork Holds the thrust bearing right? and goes through the clutch (Bell) housing Got to be careful here or Is it the rod that goes directly into the slave cylinder? Either way as long as the rest of the cars ok it's worth keeping If it's the clutch fork you going to have to remove gearbox (Not the end of the world) Part won't be that expensive

Abnormal clutch pedal operation


You've replaced the master, the slave, now I would check to see if the throwout fork will move by hand. If you can move the fork by hand I would say that your pressure plate and or throwout bearing are worn out. First try to just gravity bleed the system. If that doesnt work, it may be time for a clutch, pressure plate, and bearing. The pressure plate spring pushes the pedal back up and depending on how many miles and driving habit those little arms on it break off and just wear out. I hope this helps you.

Clutch problem


i would bleed the system again . make you get strong pressure. if that dose not work check throw out bear fork. it sittes on a ball stud good luck later

91' Toyota Pickup clutch not depressing/stuck.


dude under truck left hand sideof tranny, is your clutch slave cylinder, remove the hydraulic line, the two mount bolts. replace the slave cylndr. you got clutch !!!!

ps i dont recall there being a bleed valve. it should bleed by gravity

prolly a hydraulic problem master os slave cylinder leak ck your fluid takes dot 3 brake fluid , also you can put in gear hold the pedal down usually if the fiber substance is gone from the clutch disk the car will not move while cranking if the car moved then its a hydraulic problem , note to self try this with nothing in front of the car it might start up in gear if that happens you will have to immediately turn the engine key off , if the fiber is gone while running you can put trans into any gear while running without pedal inguaged , hope this helps
