Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My Nissan maxima 09 won't start because it has this "yellow key" signal light turned on. It's a push to start and the key seems fine and working properly because I can lock and unlock ge doors, open the trunk and use the panic button on it. I have tried jump starting it but won't work. Any suggestions?

Try another key key could be faulty or the ignition key immobilizer control module and ECM faulty.try this procedure remove all possible sources of signal interference from the key ring. switch ignition on for 5 seconds then switch off ignition. wait for 10 seconds switch ignition on 5 seconds again then switch ignition off. wait 10 minutes again then try start engine if engine dont start problem in the immobilizer control module, ignition key or ignition switch keylock cylinder,or ECM problem. have vechicle code scan first before buying new parts.

Sounds like the R/F transmitter in your key fob has malfunctioned. Get the dealer on the phone. They are probably the only ones who can help you.

I think your ignition switch has quit working, or it has stopped getting power. If you pull the connector apart to the ignition switch and check if there is one wire on the harness side of the connector that has power, it sure looks like a bad ignition switch. One fat wire, about 12 gauge size, going into the switch should be hot at all times. If you have it, pretty obvious that power is not going out of the switch. key on should send power out of the switch to the fuses for the windows and other accessories, and also send power to the dash for the warning lights and gauges.
Power to the switch will be either from one of your fusible links near the battery or from a maxi fuse in the fuse/relay block under the hood. The funny action of the key kind of points to the ignition switch, though. Still, check for power into the switch first.

Nissan Maxima 1996 issues-sensors

Dear Gandhi
1) You better check the 'Idle control relay' - and pray this is not your computer - who may be shorted ( The Computer that govern all elec. functions in the car - is also getting signals from your Mothor Mounts' to ensure a more balanced ride' If one or more of the Motor Mounts ( There are 3 ) are defective - they send a signal to the computer - and the yellow light ( Check engine soon) - will appear'
2) A Computer can only be fixed by a Nissan dealer ( est. $750 ) 3) The Idle control valve - can be adjusted too ( Again - by a Nissan Dealer only .
4) It is NOT an easy problem nor cheap . In short - your best bet is with the dealer - and ask them for a diagnostic ONLY ( est. $100 ) Don't tell the dealer what YOU think or did .......just tell them the 'Yellow light comes on' .......they'll take it from there.
Sorry I don't have better news today .

Best of luck
David

1999 Nissan Maxima will not start up

there is a chip inside your car key
some times gets damage or the car computer gets damage and no longer recognize your key chip
this causes the anti theft system to prevent the fuel injectors to open and the engine will not start because has no gas.

the security light stain on is your hint of what is going on.

I had the same problem on a 99 Nissan Maxima but i got the car running again what you need to do is replace the engine computer and then call a locksmith to reprogram your key to be recognize by the new computer i when to a lot of pain and suffer to get this solve.

before changing any thing make sure the plastic part of the key is not broken, if it is call your locksmith to make you a new one before changing any thing.

NOTE do not use a computer from a salvage yard unless you get to see the actual car it came from

if it came from a car than has the body in one piece do not buy it

its real hard to diagnose this problem and

chances are it came there because of the same problem you have.

if the car looks like it was in a crash the computer is more likely to be good.

but its always best to get it rebuild or brand new if you can.
after you change the computer call the locksmith to get you car key reprogram.

Do not use a computer from a 98 or 2000 because they will not work no mater what the salvage yard tells you they are to make money not to help you so it has to be 99 only.
