on the 1.8tdci the pcv is built into the rocker cover! Therefore not so easy to replace or take apart!

If you get a new one in your hand it may give you clues how the old one may come off.

Sorry David. I am in Australia and our Mondeo must have a different engine.

  • Dave Nolan Nov 19, 2013

I have not noticed a PCV that is built in to the rocker cover. As a PCV is a serviceable item it does not make any sense. But that is not hard to believe nowadays :)

A Positive Crank Ventilation valve is a very cheap thing....cheaper to replace than repair. Replace with a metal one as the plastic ones get brittle and break drpping a spring and metal disk into the engine. I have not seen this do damage yet but it would not surprise me

Where is the pcv valve 2006 ford five hundred

It is under the throttle body area and it is hard to get to unless you are doing the plugs and have it out of the way. My Ford dealer quoted $166 to change the plugs P&L. I did them myself. Look up your PVC valve on rockauto.com to see what it looks like.

Remove PCV valve from rocker cover. Run engine at i
dle. Place thumb over open end of PCV valve to
check for vacuum. If there is no vacuum at valve, c
heck for obstruction in manifold port, hoses or PCV
valve. Repair or replace as necessary.

Turn engine off. Remove PCV valve. Shake valve and
listen for rattle of check valve inside. If a clear
rattle is not heard, replace PCV valve.

Visually inspect valve for varnish or deposits whic
h may make PCV valve operation sticky, restricted o
r
cause incomplete seating of valve. Replace if neces
sary. An engine must be sealed for the PCV system t
o
function as designed. If leakage, sludging or dilut
ion of oil is noted AND the PCV system is functioni
ng
properly, check engine for cause and repair as requ
ired to insure PCV system will continue to function
properly. An engine operating without any crankcase
ventilation can be damaged so it is important to
replace PCV valve and air cleaner breather at regul
ar intervals (at least every 30,000 miles). Check a
ll hoses
and clamps for failure or deterioration.
