Car making new noise

Hi, my car car runs ok, but today I noticed a higher pitched engine running sound (along with the normal engine sound.) Is this something that needs seeing to? Thanks!

You should definitely get it checked out. It's probably just a belt. If it breaks while you're driving you could be stranded.

I had the same problem, check if there's any oil in the spark plugs, or maybe one of the wires is loose or the plug is bad.

SOURCE: '03 Toyota Corolla- Air Condiotioner making noise...

I've been looking into an A/C problem for my 2004 Pontiac Vibe (which is basically a Toyota). Found something that might help you. Evidently there was a service bulletin (NOT a recall) about this model's M/G CLT relay in the air conditioner system - many of them have proved faulty! That relay is in the fuse box under the hood near the battery. Basically the relay just has to be replaced. Cost of part is around $70. Hope this will help!

It still could be the throw-out bearing. When going bad, they have a high pitched whine or whistling, and if bad enough, could imitate a vibrating sensation. IDK, I would have a mechanic there listen to it.

SOURCE: When starting the Rav4 (1996) it makes a grinding noise before it fires up properly, it sounds like it 'should' have started on first turn of the key instead of waiting a few seconds to actual

sounds like the starter or a bad flywheel might want to pull the starter out and check for damage

The oil pressure is low at idle and rises with higher engine revs. Oil levels are ok, new oil approx 2000kms ago. Was a slight noise at one stage in the engine but went away after engine's revs in

It sounds as if the clearance that the bearings normally run in have been surpassed and need to be replaced. Higher engine revs will supply extra oil which will overcome any small discrepencies but constant running at this stage will result in faster degradation of all engine components concerned resulting in a more expensive repair. Shes basically worn out.

Sounds like you have a broken belt that runs the alternator. Usually when the battery and brake lights come on it means the alternator isn't charging. Either that or the alternator burnt up.

Power (acceleration) loss at mid-high RPM only

Loss of acceleration, the backpressure noise and such are kinda tell tale signs of that converter having problems, feel the exhaust out of the tailpipe it will be warm normally have someone step on the gas and if its super hot it'd be a step in the right direction.

Whining noise from front of 2003 impala.higher

Sounds like it could be the wheel bearing. Jack up the car, and see if the tire feels loose when pushing in and out at the top and bottom of the tire. That;s the most obvious way to check. But many times, the bearing is tight, but still bad.

Apparently the whine is car speed related and not engine speed. I'm surprised that you didn't say anything about checking the wheel bearings?

Golf 2002 mk 4 130 making a strange noise when revs up

If you think it's the timing belt, get it replaced or inspected.

Even though there are other things that might make a noise, the damage you might do by having the timing belt fail while the engine is running are not worth the risk.
