You can adjust valve lash or get some seafoam from parts store and follow the the instrutions on can.

08 Civic EX, valves became noisy at60K, valves quiet after warmup. They will probably still be noisy after I adjust them. Would the cause be excessive wear on the valves stem ends and rockers?


If there were no wear, the valves wouldn't need adjusting. The reason for periodically adjusting the valves is to compensate for the wear that the valve train undergoes over the life of the engine. Be optimistic! Have confidence that adjusting the valves will reduce the noisy valves.

What will be the problem if i have a taping noise when i start my car until it gets warm mitsubishi 380


A tapping noise that starts out cold and goes away when warm is usually caused by a valve lifter inside the engine. The lifter may be worn/leaking down and will be noisy until it fills with oil pressure. You can try an oil additive ( Lucas Oil Additive ) available at most part stores works very well with noisy lifters. Another noise that can happen cold and go away when warm is an exhaust manifold leak. However, this is normally a ticking type sound rather than a tapping sound.

low oil pressure, wrong oil filter, worn hydraulic lifters , worn rockers at valve stem ends
worn rocker bushes
wrong viscosity engine oil
and engine is spelt ENGINE nt how you spell it

I got a tapping 85 vfr1000r.what are my possibilitys?lots of power,just started tapping.


Hi if the tapping is in top it could be valve adjustment. Otherwise it is the cam chain this is adjusted automatically so if its noisy you will need 2 chains and 2 tensioners along wit the guid rails. This will be expensive unfortunatly. Send the valve settings for a toyota 3L engine


Valve setting? Most engine valves have an automatic adjuster to self adjust the setting. You didn't say you had it apart. So, I'm thinking you have a dirty condition that would make the adjuster or valve tap. If so good additives just for both those conditions can restore the adjusting by cleaning and freeing the ailing parts. Try the link below for more info and needed product. Noisy valves 5.2 engine


How noisy are they, are they noisy when you start the engine and then quiet down, do they get louded as you go faster? Noisy valves could be normal as Chrysler engines do have a clicking sound on these big engines. It is a hemi by the way.

They can be noisy, my rodeo sounds like a diesel. But, it might be something else, belt tensioners usually only tap, one time every rpm, valves might make more racket, rods sound like a snare drum under neath the car, check the oil, the sound should be coming from the front of the engine. Water pumps, alternators, ac comp, all can be noisy. Turn off the ac when listening. Watch out for the fan. A long screwdriver or a piece of wood with ear against the end will quickly find a noisy part.

Noisey valve lifters in 2001 blazer


I suggest Blue Devil products for noisy valve lifters. If they are too worn or one of them is broken , no product will work . The lifters and valves have to be overhauled.

My friend just got a 1988 ford ranger  v6 2.9L and has a valve tap and was wondering what different kind of ways he could fix this


if its an ohv type the most common fault is that the oil ways to the rocker shafts become blocked
so get some flushing oil drain the oil and replace with the flushing oil and run for the time stayed on the can then Change to good quality oil and new filter
then remove the rocker covers and check and adjust the valve clearances
if its an ohc type its all hydraulic adjustment
you could try flushing as above but apart from that the only other way is to change the lifters and followers
