There are hundreds of reasons that light will go on. Unfortunately you'll need to get the system scanned and see what errors show up. Most shops will do a scan for a small fee or take it to Autozone, they will sometimes do a scan for free.

Should I change automatic transmission oil on my 2004 kia sedona?

forget the friends advice
automatic oil should be light tan or cherry red depending on the brand of oil used
the oil should be changed around the 60,000 klm mark and done by accredited transmission shops
If you have a CV-transmission that requires a special oil (not auto transmission oil as they are not automatic transmissions --they have a belt running between variable pulleys which gives the impression that it is automatic but it is not)

I need help finding the transmission filter on a 2001 v6 4x4 ford escape. Also I had to replace the radiator and wheel bearings in this vehicle. When they pulled the Axel out, light brown transmission...

Filter is inside the transmission. Light brown fluid is sometimes an indicator or wear. But it can also mean nothing except that the red dye has faded in color.

Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero) 2005 transmission light. After driving for approximately 20 km (~12.5 miles) at a steady speed of 120 km/h (~65 miles/hour) the red light of the transmission starts flashing. ...

Could be either or, or it could be neither. Is the "red light" a transmission temperature warning light? If so, the fluid is over heating and the heat sensor is turning the light on...Check fluid level and the condition of your fluid...if it's off colored and smells burnt, you better have it flushed, refilled and a new filter installed. Heat will kill a transmission faster than anything.
Check the transmission cooler, most montero's had a cooler installed on the front of the vehicle by the radiator...the cooling fins need to be clean, no bugs or debris so air flows through it. Have your vehicle scanned also, if you had a transmission code the computers memory will probably still have it stored, this will be helpful with further diagnosis.

Transmission warning ligth on dash board willnt go off

ok if it is indeed a transmission light...does your car drive funny in any way? since it came on? anything at all? some ford transmissions are know to have a falty transmission fluid level sensor. or your transmission is indeed low on transmission fluid. If you know where the transmission dip stick is pull it out with the engine on, wipe off and put it back in, wait a second and pull it out again and compare the actuall fluid level to where it should be according to the dip stick... remember do this with the engine ON that's the most important part of checking trans fluid levels since they work by pressure. If its low and it looks RED ...the fluid is good just need to add some. if the fluid is dark color ( if it's not bright red like blood) then im afraid you might have to go to a transmission shop. NOW if it's red and low go to Auto Zone and have them check the "light" and have them help you find the proper fluid for your specific model and they should help you add the fluid too VERY VERY IMPORTANT to get the right kind of fluid. SECOND VERY IMPORTANT PART..IF your fluid level is GOOD, the color of the fluid is RED (real red like blood nothing else!!!!) no any OTHER SHADE OF RED...RED!!!! ok? and it doesn't drive funny at all keep driving it and just have auto zone check the light ..just to see what its saying that is wrong. dont drive on low fluid.... just straight to autozone or you can damage your transmission.

Can not shift from park to any other gear, brake lights not working either .can turn key to access.and shift to nuetrual and car stars but stiill no brake lights

You need transmission fluid. I had this same problem a year ago. I had a ford aspire buy some transmission fluid THAN CHECK TO SEE IF ANY RED LIQUID IS LEAKING BENEATH YOUR CAR, make sure you move to a different spot than where your at, you have to be able to tell that it wasn't there before. If its leaking red , than you have a transmission problem ( or leak in a hose it doesn't have to be your transmission could be a hose or something ).
