Turn key, listen to the whine of the fuel pump priming, start bike. If you don't get the sound of the pump priming either it's not getting power or it's dead, I don't think it has a inertia safety switch.
OR
the crank sensor is the only sensor that, if faulty, will not allow a bike to run. However, even with a bad CS the bike should still 'prime' when you turn ignition on and switch to the run position.
( if it doesn't, I'd look for power to the pump)

SOURCE: wont hold idle will start with foot depressing gas pedal will run with foot on gas but stalls when foot removed

Check and clean Idle air control valve. Make sure its responding to signal as well. Also make sure ther are no vacuum hoses disconnected. This may not be a "cure" but it's a good place to start.

SOURCE: rear brake caliper on honda civic 5 door

While replacing REAR CALIPERS Park Brake Should NOT BE APPLIED Until Completely DONE with PROCEDURE,Nor Should it be Released During Procedure. As isogeorge Said Your Problem MAY Be in the Adjustment of the PARK BRAKE CABLE, Requiring removal of Rubber BOOT @ HANDBRAKE and Tightening or Loosening of Cable whichever you deem Appropriate. In My Thoughts it is too tight thus Engaging PARK BRAKE SWITCH turning ON LIGHT. PLEASE Feel FREE to Refer Back to Me For ANY Assistance with this Problem, Hope this Gets you on the right Track and Solves your Problem.

Red Handbrake warning saying Apply handbrake and not starting

I familiar with this setup, but the car should start with the parking brake on. I could see it warning you if you try to move it with brake set, or maybe even shutting off engine then, but I would never think it would prevent engine from starting. Is this a stick shift or automatic. Make sure transmission is in neutral or park, clutch depressed.

Handbrake light comes on but fluid level is topped up

When you engage the handbrake the handbrake light should come on. It has nothing to do with the fluid level.
If it is coming on without the handbrake being applied, then you possibly have:
1. A faulty switch. The switch activates the handbrake light.
2. A stuck braking cable. To eliminate this place the handbrake on and attempt to back-up (reverse). It should not move with your foot off the brake. Do not put your foot on the gas (accelerator). Place your foot on the brake and disengage the the handbrake. Again with your feet neither on the gas or brake. The vehicle should move backwards.
In all likleyhood the switch is bad. It is easily located right under the handbrake arm and easily removed and replaced.

Handbrake

They all work the same. Call it parking-brake, hand-brake or foot-brake, it is the same.

Use your hand, or foot to apply the foot-brake, whatever is convenient for you is ok.

Merecedes C270 - the foot operated parking brake,

Hi :)
Very common problem do loads. You need to lubricate the handbrake linkage under the rear seats ( the bit ur bum goes on). If you have a estate car then the seats will flip up but if its a saloon car then you will have to remove 2 13mm nuts for either side seat. When ur under there, u will see a little black panel in the middle, remove it 2 8mm self tappers and a 13mm nut. right you should now see the linkage where the cable splits to either side of the car. Get a load of wd-40 and spray whilst some else operates the handbrake 100 times or so. sorted! Dont forget to adjust the handbrake at the wheels after, go all the way with the adjust and back off two clicks either side.
Hope this works and good luck1

Parking brake on my 2004 2.5SE Auto does not release properly so the rear N/S disc is binding. Can it be freed up easily or does it require a 2nd mortgage? Hi, we've got the same problem but car...

Try a reset, to do this =

Disconnect negative lead to battery, wait 15 mins, then reconnect.
press and hold foot brake on, then operate handbrake switch to put handbrake on. then release foot brake and see if handbrake releases on moving away or manually on the switch.
Before diconecting battery make sure you have the radio code.
good luck
