SOURCE: Wobbly sound in the drive train: Replaced left

having the same type of noise in mine. I dont think you had to change the axles because though it may sound like it they were probably ok. I have been trying to fing the part for mine that it sounds like you need. It's the transmission, there is a aftermarket part that doesn't cure the problem but allows you to get more use out of the car. It is a sleeve that goes in the tranny were the axle seal is and keeps the axle strait so it doesn't bang around in the tranny but unfortunatly I have not been able to find anywhere that has it anymore. still looking. this problem was common to that year car and I talked to a transmission shop and thats where I found out about this problem after I did everthing you did with the axles and the bearing and he told me these cars all had this problem, sorry I cant help you find the part but at least you have an idea of the problem

SOURCE: There is a squeaking sound

It sounds like your brake is hanging up to me. I would pull the wheel off the suspected side and check your brakes.

There is another release in the right rear passenger side of the trunk. A little WD-40 on the latch will help.

Why won't the drivers side window in 2000 Taurus won't go up. Can hear the click, window won't move.

Not sure about an easy fix other than putting plastic over the window. It sounds like the motor that pushes the window up may be seized up.

How do i change the fuel filter

hello...follow these steps to replace fuel filter on your Grand Marquis:

1) Apply the parking brake. Unscrew the gas filler cap from the fuel tank on the driver's side. Open the hood and disconnect the negative cable from the battery

2) Go underneath the car from the driver's side. Look for the fuel filter mounted to the vehicle chassis just below the driver's seating area. You should be able to identify the fuel filter as a metal cylinder attached to a black hose. This hose is your fuel line and it should run from the fuel tank at the rear of the vehicle to the engine
3) Notice that the area between the fuel filter and the fuel line is covered by a set of push-connect fittings. Remove these fittings using a flat-head screwdriver. Simply slide the screwdriver between the legs of the clips and push outwards until the legs of the clips open up. Remove the push-connect fittings and set them aside. The fuel line should disconnect from the fuel filter when you remove the push-connect fittings. If the fuel line does not disconnect, pull on the fuel line until it detaches from the fuel filter.

3) Loosen the fuel filter retaining clamp that secures the filter to the chassis of the vehicle---
Slide the fuel filter out of the retaining clamp and discard it.

4) Slide a new fuel filter into the retaining clamp. Tighten the retaining clamp over the fuel filter to secure it to the chassis. Align the fuel line with the inlet and outlet lips of the fuel filter. Push the fuel line onto the fuel filter until you hear an audible click. Attach the push-connect fittings over the area where the fuel line and the fuel filter meet.

5) Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. Tighten the gas filler cap to the fuel tank. Turn on the ignition and allow the car to idle for a few minutes to pressurize the fueling system.

Visual check for leaks...that's it, you are done.
Good luck & i hope this helps FixYa!

How to change a fuel filter on a 1994 mercury sable

this is for a 3.8 GS the fuel filter is located near the right rear tire

  1. open the trunk. on the driver side pull back the carpet and you find the fuel cut switch. take your open hand and slap the side of the switch. it should pop up. now get in the car ans start it and run it till it stops. when it dies try to start once more.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the push connect fittings at both ends of the fuel filter. This is accomplished by removing the hairpin clips from the fittings. Remove the hairpin clips by first bending, and then breaking the shipping tabs on the clips. Spread the 2 clip legs approximately 1 / 8 in. (3mm) to disengage the body and push the legs into the fitting. Gently pull on the triangular end of the clip and work it clear of the fitting.
  3. Remove the filter from the mounting bracket by loosening the worm gear mounting clamp enough to allow the filter to pass through
  4. detach lines from fuel filter. move small bucket or whatever to catch what left in lines ( filter will still have gas in it)
  5. Install the new filter in the mounting bracket, ensuring that the flow direction arrow is pointing forward. Locate the fuel filter against the tab at the lower end of the bracket.
  6. Insert a new hairpin clip into any 2 adjacent openings on each push connect fitting, with the triangular portion of the clip pointing away from the fitting opening. Install the clip to fully engage the body of the fitting. This is indicated by the legs of the hairpin clip being locked on the outside of the fitting body. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the ends of the fuel filter, then push the fittings onto the ends of the filter. When the fittings are engaged, a definite click will be heard. Pull on the fittings to ensure that they are fully engaged.
  7. Tighten the worm gear mounting clamp to 15-25 inch lbs. (1.7-2.8 Nm)
  8. open the trunk again and push the button on the fuel switch down and reconnect the battery and start the engine and check for leaks

There is a humming sound coming from the front end of my 1999 oldmobile alero. Only happens when the car is moving. I dont hear itat idle or even when pushing the gas at idle. could it be my transmission...

Hello! If the humming noise is speed related(gets louder as vehicle speed increases)check front wheel bearings. If the noise goes away when turning one way or the other then it will most likely be in the front wheel bearing. If you turn the wheel(while moving)to the right and the noise goes away it is on the right side. If you turn the wheel to the left and the noise goes away its on the left side. Hope this information helps!

Car randomly stalls when i stop or even while i drive

It sounds like your fuel filter is clogged or your fuel pump is going bad. When this happens see if you can hear if your fuel pump is running. Turn the key forward to the run position and listen near the gas tank. you should hear a vibrating sound. If you don't hear it at all the pump of pump relay is bad. If you hear it continually your fuel filter, pressure regulater, or fuel line have problems.
