That happened to my wife when I bought her a car (with a factory installed alarm sys) that didn't come with the remote... Any local car alarm installer can reprogram another one for you (which is what we wound up having to do cost us $50) sometimes theres a lil tiny toggle switch under the dash somewhere on after market alarm systems

I have a 1987 toyota 4runner and no running lights or dash lights . The tail light fuse is ok but still no dash lights or running tail lights break lights light up fine.

THE DASH LIGHTS ARE USUALLY CONTROLLED BY A SMALL THUMB WHEEL NEAR THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THE DASH. THAT IS A RHEOSTAT, THAT MAKES THE DASH LIGHTS BRIGHT & DIM. REPLACE OR BYPASS IT.

Automatic Transmission locked in park. Will not shift. The vehicle is a 2000 Toyota 4runner with a V-6 engine.

Sounds like the shift lock solenoid is not working, there could be a couple of different things cousing this. First thing I would check is the brake light switch witch is located under the dash on the brake pedal assy.. The second thing it could be is the shift lock solenoid its self, wich is located around or near the shifter.

I have a 1999 4runner LTD, can anyone provide me with the instructions to program my keyless entry remote? Thanks __________________ RAV Report this post to a moderator | IP: Logged 12-31-2004 02:11 AM NoliWan Member Registered: Dec 2004 Location: San Jose, CA Posts: 34 Hey RAV, I got your PM-- Here are the instructions for programming the 99-02 4Runner Keyless Entry factory remotes: 1. Start with the following conditions: you are in the vehicle a. Key is out of the ignition b. Drive door is open ( all other doors are closed) c. Driver door is unlocked (other door locks don't matter) 2. Insert the key into the ignition (don't turn it) and pull it out. 3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds: a. Cycle the power locks 5 times. Use an even pace and try to go relatively fast. b. Close, then open the drivers door. 4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds: a. Cycle the power locks 5 times (same as before). b. Turn the ignition to ON then back to OFF. c. Turn the ignition to ON then back to OFF. d. Remove the key from the ignition. 5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle (automatically) indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point. 6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds: a. Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1 second. b. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle ( LOCK then UNLOCK) once-- indicating successful programming. If the door locks don't cycle, or cycle twice. Repeat steps 6a and 6b--this remote has not been accepted. c. Repeat steps 6a and 6b for EACH transmitter that will operate the vehicle. Including any old transmitters. 7. Close the driver door. Hope this helps you, it did me greatly-- Good luck, NoliWan __________________ 2000 SR5 4Runner 4WD ____________________ TRD 2nd Gen. Supercharger / TRD Headers / TRD Cat Back Exhaust / TRD Trans. Cycle the power locks 5 times. Does this mean lock/unlock 5 times? I am really unsure. Here is some history: Actually, I didnt buy a new remote. Mine stopped working. I have an 02 T4R. Last week I noticed the *chirp* sound wasnt working any more. Over the weekend... the Keyless Remote stopped working totally. So I radio shacked a new battery in the remote... but it still does not work. I tried these reprogramming instructions, but they do not work either. "Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle (automatically)" This doesnt happen. So I am wondering if I am doing the cycle correctly ... Any Advice would be appreciated. So it will be locked 5 times and unlocked five times. If you were doing this and the vehicle wasnt doing the automatic cycle thing, then there must be a problem with the computer and not the remote. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can't do the steps with out setting off the car alarm, specifically the close and open the drivers door step. Does your alarm always activate when the unlocked doors are closed? __________________ '00 SR5 4x4 ARB Tundra/OME 32" Muddies n'stuff Report this post to a moderator | IP: Logged 12-15-2006 05:05 PM Advertisement Sponsored Links Ads by Google Supporting this site Also, check out these sponsored links: More Links: All times are GMT. Remote Start on 2008 Toyota 4Runner will not start truck

Is it a Toyota remote start, or an aftermarket remote start? If it is a Toyota remote start, make sure the hood and doors are all closed. press lock twice, then press lock a 3rd time and hold it for 3 or 4 seconds. It then should beep once, and a few seconds later start up. OR the lights will flass once, twice, or etc. Usually this means there's something wrong and the number of flashes is a diagnostic code of sorts. If this is the case, take it in to your dealer for further assistance. This part should be covered under the 3/36000 warranty.

If it is an aftermarket system, it will probably be a similar situation. It may be a misadjusted hood pinswitch, or even some blatent mistake the installer made installing it.
