G35 Problems My G35 has been running hotter than normal and it over heated the other night, anti freeze came put of the radiator. Luckily I was very near home and could make it home. I had the radiator and thermostat replaced, but I was wondering why I didn't get an icon on the dash?

For me and my G the solution was to bleed the coolant system a few time. I will pay closer attention to what's going on under the hood. A lady can't be stuck on the side of the road, crying! Thanks for all the help, guys.

SOURCE: 2003 ford explorer has no heat

does the fan in the cab work?? if it does SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE AIR BLOCK, OR BLOCKED HEATER MATRIX, FIRST CHECK THE HEIGHT OF THE HEATER MATRIX IN THE CAB , IF ITS HIGHER THAN THE FILLER/EXPANSION TANK. THEN COULD BE AN AIR LOCK, LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST PIPE AND SEE IF THERE IS A BLEED VALVE, IF NOT TAKE BOTH PIPES OFF THE MATRIX FEEDS (TWO PIPES GOING FROM ENGINE BAY TO INSIDE OF CAR, AND FLUSH OUT WITH HOSE TO SEE IF IT IS BLOCKED, AND RECONNECT LOWEST PIPE FIRST AND FILL SYSTYM TILL WATER APPEAR FROM TOP AND RECONNECT RUN MOTOR, AND KEEP TOPIN UP, YOU CAN BuY A COOLENT FLUSH SOLUTION TO CLEAN THE SYSTYM OUT

SOURCE: 1997 Cadillac Deville Overheating

Yes it can be the head gasket, one way to tell,is make sure the engine is cold, like in the morning.Take the rad.cap off,add water until full.Turn over the engine and let run, while looking at the opening(where the cap goes). Is the water coming out like really fast, maybe as much as a fountain? If so,then it is a head,or head gasket. If you would like to bleed system of air I can tell you how.If there is air in the cooling system,it will run hot. With it cold,or cool, not hot or real warm, fill the reservoir with water up to 3/4 full, over the fill mark.Fill the radiator full, and replace radiator cap,and reservoir cap.Make sure the hose from the reservoir to the radiator is in good shape,no holes or crimped anywhere.start the engine with the ac off.At this point the cooling fans should not be on.There not supposed to be on unless you straight wired them. Before the fans come on by themselves,or the vehicle runs hot,and right before not to soon, cut the car off.Go in the house and get on computer for about 30 to 40 minutes, and go back out side and check the water level in the reservoir. Is it down?if so add more water and repeat process until engine runs at normal temp. The fans should come on,and go off on there own, with the ac off.Let me know the out come.

Have a 96 Buick Park Ave. In Aug I changed the thermostat because the temp gauge showed the motor was running cold. nothing changed. In Sept I had the water pump replaced because it started leaking. M

Is your 3800 producing normal heat? If so, the temp sensor is probably bad...If not, try replacing the radiator cap...if your system has air trapped inside, it usually runs hot, not cold...the heat is the key to functioning properly for you...Your radiator is a 4 stage huge system that normally cools very well...if you have heat, I still think your temp sensor is bad...ask to see one at your parts store, will help you to locate it. Hope this helps.

Do you put water are engine coolant in radiator

you can put water in the radiator and it will run fine however if your in an area that gets cold enough that requires anti-freeze use the correct water anti-freeze mixture so the coolant does not freeze and crack the engine block or heads.

Pressure test the radiator for leaks if it holds pressure start the engine. And check if pressure rises and keeps rising ,if it does it points to blown gasket or cracked head. A faulty thermostat can make it over heat so check it out . I would not mix the anti freeze as a lot of them don't mix well. put the anti freeze in all year as it stops corrosion of the cooling system.

Heat while moving, none when I slow down or stop.

Double check your cooling system. Make sure it's topped up and that all the pipes leading from the radiator heat up during normal use, if not, you need a new thermostat.

I just changed the radiator. How much antifreeze do I put in?

put a 50/50 mix. remove radiator cap when cold, start car let run 1 min and dump 50/50 mix till full, a little will come out cap when thermostat opens this is normal, when thermostat opens coolant will go down, continue to fill till full, put cap on and fill reservoir to cold mark, check reservoir after you run a day and fill if needed to the full cold mark again

Honda has a blue anti-freeze that comes in their radiators. It doesn't have additives that can damage the water pump. Look on the back of the anti-freeze and get one recommended for honda or go to a dealer.

Lately my 1998 plymouth voyager is getting over heated more often when at red lights, my question is because it is summer should I be putting water in the radiator or just anti freeze 50/50 in overflow

You should always use 50/50 mix in the system. At that concentration it both lowers the freezing point and raises the boiling point. A good working pressure cap is also necessary. (and no leaks anywhere in the system)
Having the proper mix of coolant will not change the coolant temperature though. Coolant temp is controlled by the thermostat in the engine, the radiator and the electric fan. If any of those items aren't right, the engine will run hotter than it should.
Most newer engines run at between 210 and 220 degrees (f). (lower # is better)
If you need info pertaining to a specific item just ask!

Over heating chevy 350

many of reasons thermostat doesn't open, radiator is partially plugged, and by running straight anti-freeze this will cause it to run hotter, fan belt not tight enough or your clutch fan (if it has one) is bad.. hope this helps you! !
