There are no acceptable safety reasons to remove a head rest in a car as they are designed to prevent death in an accident. If you are stopped at an inspection site you will be charged for this offence. Anyway if you still want to remove it then there should be small buttons at the base on the top of the seat near the rods . press these buttons while lifting out the head rest

Remove front passenger headrest.

Depending on where you are, removing a safety device could give you problems at safety inspection. I'd recommend that you check with your local police or vehicle insurance agent before you get to far into removing them.

Remove headrests

Well, perhaps, but they are actually head RESTRAINTS, and a mandatory and legally required safety item. There is usually some adjustment up and down if the position is difficult for you. Read the user manual or ask the dealer.

Removal would certainly void some or all of your warranty. The dealer would not do it.

2006 ford explorer headrest latch needs repairing

In order to repair this you must have the seat back cover removed, since you really don't know what is broken inside and it is a safety issue I would have the dealer repair this.

I need to remove a headrest so that I can install a child's safety seat. The seat is too high with the headrest on. How can I do that?

I have a 2010 Santa Fe and this is how I did it. Remove the back panel of the seat, there are 5 or 6 plastic clips that hold the seat back cover on, start at the bottom of the seat back panel and work your way upwards, pull the panel downwards and it should come off. Once the panel is removed, You will see a black cable running down the back of the seat. At the bottom of the cable, you will see a black plastic box with two clips holding it shut. Open the cover and pull away the cable from the box on the side that runs up to the headrest, once it releases the cable, remove the cable end from the holder inside. From there, just hold the headrest adjustment lock in and push upwards hard until it comes out with the cable.

How do you remove the front headrest for a 2009 bmw 335i

You can't remove the front headrests from 2009 or later BMW's without first disconnecting internal wiring that runs inside 1 of the posts for each headrest to the inside the seat. This wiring is part of the Active Restraint Safety System that was new for 2009.

If you force it and break the wire you will at a minimum need to spend about $300 at the dealer to resplice the wire by taking the back off the seat.

How do you remove headrest on a 2008 silverado?

  1. Depress the button on the inboard head restraint guide to raise the head restraint to the full up position.
  2. Insert a small diameter tool into the hole on the inboard side of the outboard head restraint guide and pull upward to remove.
Note: These are head restraints and should be left in place for safety reasons!
