Question about Cars & Trucks

I have a 98 durango and was driving down the road about 70mph when all the sudden the whole vehicle started to wobble and pull really hard to the left. I have absolutely no idea what it is and am on a limited budget. can you give me some ideas to what it could be. please and thank you.

Could be a whole slue of things. I would jack it up and check the left side of the vehicle: pulling to the left leads me to the front left wheel. Check for binding brakes, loose steering components, etc.
A tire with bad thread can cause your vehicle to wobble, spin the wheel and look at the thread pattern for distortion.

Your left front wheel bearings are probably gone-this shouldn't cost more than $750-$1000 to fix -Denny

SOURCE: no buS

This might be the cheapest way to get your durango moving again. I have the same problem, and I solve it with a zip-lock bag of ice. As soon as your computer is cool enough it should start again, and die when it gets hot. Keep your computer cold with ice. there is probably a microswitch at the root of your problems. and hopefully it's not the on board computer.

SOURCE: steering wheel wobbles while driving

its most likely the tires out of balance. With car problems its always best to try the most common and cheapest solutions first and that would be having it rebalanced.

SOURCE: freelander td4 power loss at 70mph

yeah, don't drive so fast!!!!...seriously i would do what has to be done anyway to start. change fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires. these have to be done at some point if they haven't been.. if that solves your problem, if not look at fuel pump, injectors.u didn't say if it used to go faster, maybe there is a limiter.

Ignition Control Module is bad. When the dielectric grease used to mount them gets hard, they overheat and cause you to shut down. Really easy to install(about 10 mins.). I had this happen on two Fords. If you let the engine sit and cool down, they will fire up and run till that part gets hot, then itll die on ya. Auto zone sells this part for around 35 bucks.

2005 dodge durango driving down the road,

Are you actually hearing the engine speed change as well when this happens, or just seeing the tach needle make crazy readings??

If only the tach is being funky, then I would say a speed sensor on the tranny is on its way out. There is also a speed sensor on the rear axle of some Durangos that can cause this issue.

Wheel wobble. Looking at replacing most all the bushings relaying to the suspension. any advise, or maybe a good tutorial site to help me along?

Have your front suspension checked by someone you trust. there are so many things that can cause the symptoms you're experiencing. shocks, balljoints, bearings, steering stabilizer, bushings.

Check your steering stability bar I had the same problem and it turned out that I had bent that bar.

The death wobble is basically when you are driving your lifted jeep down the road and the front end starts to shake violently. It can happen at virtually any speed, though mostly above 40 mph or so, and is a frightening experience, especially for those witnessing it for the first time. Now it doesn’t throw you off the road or anything … the front end just shakes. And the only way to stop it is to slow down and pull over. So it wasn’t that hard to get used to at first. But as it happened more and more, it seemed to get more and more out of control.

Also, I suggest check this articles:
- Cures and Fix for Death Wobble, and
- Fixing Jeep Death Wobbles

I'm owner from '93 ZJ, and solve it with this clues.

Hope help (remember comment and rated this).

Jeep 98 4 cylinders, shakes when on 50milesan hr.

This problem is know as the death wobble. There is no one answer that will fix it. This is a well known problem among jeepers. Do a google search on death wobble and you will find a lot of help, but like I said there is no single answer. If your jeep is lifted, you need to find a really good alignment shop that has experience with lifted jeeps.
