You are probably better off taking it to an authorized dealer. This job require some specian tools and you would also have a warranty with the work.

make sure you have ngk or ac delco iridium plugs installed. Also common problem on the 2.2L ecotec is the cat plugging. Easy check is to remove the front o2 sensor (very easy 22mm wrench) and start the car and rev it. If it revs freely now and does not bog the cat is plugged. They are covered fed. emissions warranty 8yr 80k, all gm dealers stock the cats for the 2.2 ecotec.

First run a tank of a strong fuel system cleaner like BG-44K. If that doesn't help, clean the throttle body. If that doesn't help, take it to a mechanic.

When we turn on the head lamps or turn on anything electrical it causes the idol to go up.

um, that's kinda normal for the idle to bump up when the car's computer senses an extra draw on the electrical system

what you can do is to check the drive belt and make sure it's not overly stretched

or do a charging system test (free at a local autozone or advance auto parts store)

as well as a battery load test (also free from my local parts store)

how high of an idle is it bumping up to? tach reading?
