Coaster gear problem

I have a Toyota coaster bus 25 seater. Bought 2 years ago. I am facing difficulty changing into second gear when going up or down hill or even when the vechicel is in motion. All other gears are operational. What could be the problem? I have checked gear oils and gear lever rubbers.

I suspect that the synchro ring energising spring is failing and not allowing the connecting dog to move into position properly. First and second are on the same selector rail and move the gear dog from one position back to another position moving the same connecting dog. I think that you may have to pull the box to fix this.. get hold of a Toyota workshop manual and you will see from the diagram of the gear box what I am talking about.

SOURCE: 2000 VW Jetta squealing when shifting from 2-3rd and hard shift down when going up hill

hi if its just second to thrid then the clutch is slipping on thrid gear look at the boxes oil level is important but look at the colour is it red and tranperant as this is ok if its brown its a sign of the clutches slipping i would try a stall test on thrid gear first and if its ok second gear [manually] see is the engine stalls at the correct rpm if you thinkabout it imagine you are in thrid gear in a manuual box and suddenly drop into second it would be hard shifting it could also be a faulty thrid gear solenoid yates210456

SOURCE: bmw 330 has burning rubber smell when going up a

This could be caused by two things. Your engine could be burning excess oil under strain which smells like burning rubber, and also the belt could be slipping causing the smell. The only other thing is the tires may be slipping if they are worn. This would cause very uneven wear on the tire so the last one would be very obvious.

SOURCE: 2003 automatic VW Passat not changing gears right

The trannys on the vw's are weird, they actually have a brain which tells the tranny what to do, when to switch gears under the driving conditions etc. Is thair a check engine light on? when is the last time you had a tranny service done on it? Also, it sounds even weirder, but is your alternator ok, is it putting out the proper volts to the battery? the alternator not charging the system can lead to alot of weird acting issues.

a bus, first ever seen by me, here.
what country, not posted that makes all answers wrong.
cars are wired different , by country and options.
data:
the Coaster is common not only in Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia, but also in the developing world for minibus operators in Africa, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.[citation needed] It is widely used in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, Panama, and Peru as public transportation. These buses are imported mainly from Asia and had to have the steering wheel moved to the left and the passenger door to the other side.

perplexing , that to any helper, so where are you?

it in the operators guide, in glove box, sure lost.
get one. lots more there.
finding books on really old cars is not all that easy. or to fix them.
try alldata.com (failed)
