SOURCE: Blown fusable strap

Hi

Provided you did not connect the battery jump leads incorrectly, (which should have blown this fuse.)

(Correct is... Positive + to Posative and Negative -- to Negative.

I would charge up the battery, have it tested, and renew the fuse and go from there.

If all runs normally, check your alternator belt tension too.

Good Luck

John.

SOURCE: frequent headlamp replacement

Have your battery checked. A weak battery (Sorentos all have lousy stock batteries) may allow electrical spikes to blow lamps. Also make sure your battery cables are tight.

Note: The stock battery on 2003 and 2004 Sorentos V-6 models is a group 24. The group 34 battery is a better choice with more CCA and reserve capacity bit may require minor modifications to the battery tray or hold-down clamp.

Make sure you're using good quality headlamp bulbs. Auto-parts stores with lamps behind the counter are often higher quality than blister-pak lamps from Wally-World.

Ground locations on a 2000 gmc jimmy

Wiring diagrams are not included in many of the repair manuals for newer cars and trucks. Dealers are often willing to print out the particular segments of wiring you are working on. Basic rules are: Battery ground should go to frame and best practice is to back of alternator as well. Back of engine block should have ground strap to firewall. Computer (ECU) must be well grounded, but this is usually done by the metal case it bolts into. Headlamps need a ground. Dash needs a ground. Tail lamps need a ground, etc.

What exactly is your symptom?

How to fold the rear seats in malibu 2011?

You should notice a looped strap of cloth next to the head rest at the top of the seat. That is the release for the seatback lock. Simultaneously pull up on the strap and pull the head rest forward to fold the seat forward. The seats are split 60/40, so each seat has its own release looped strap.

How do I replace headlight?

Some one posted this on newbeetle.org.

Quote....."

1. Open the hood.

2. Now look down into the front corner of the engine compartment to where the headlight is. You will see a black assembly tucked up in the fender.

The whole headlight assembly is close to 8" long. Since the driver side light is more interesting we will do that one. Yes you can get the drivers die headlamp out without touching the battery. I replaced the driver's side low beam lamp without removing the battery.

Before trying to do the next step of the black lever you must release the metal clamp flip the small coat hanger looking shaped like an M up this releases the metal strap around the headlight assembly bucket now press the button next to the lever the button has a crosshatch design on the small button about a half inch by quarter inch.

You must find the button if you try to move the black lever up without pushing in the small button you will break the lever and then you will be off to VW to buy a new headlight bucket assembly. In my '99 Beetle there is a lever that sticks out of the headlamp assembly shield.

Lifting up on the lever rotates a ring that unlocks two posts on the headlamp assembly. It can now slide straight out of the fender. The assembly rides on three tracks left side, right side and bottom.)

3. There is a black metal strap and clasp around the assembly with a metal clip on it. The clip flips back and opens up. There is also a black plastic lever sticking out of the assembly.
Next the clasp and metal strap you will notice the lever that expels the light assembly. Mine was curved indicating that you pull up on it. As you do so the lever slides you will see the headlight start to come out of the fender.

4. Once the lever is up as far as it can go you can pull the headlight assembly out of the front of the fender carefully. This was a bit messy since the caulking on our 98 was starting to go and the dealership had put some goo around it to stop leaks I think. The light assembly in our case did take some coaxing to get it to slide out and we had to play with it for awhile, but it did finally come out

.
5. On the back you unplug the wires.

6. There is a plastic cap that comes off and you can access the headlight bulbs

7. After the housing is off, you will notice the lamp connector. There is a spring or hasp that keeps the lamp in the housing.

8. We had to change the low beam lamp (the one on the top of the assembly), so once the clip was removed the lamp can be pulled out of the assembly..

9. Once the lamp is pulled out you are almost done. The lamp is connected to the wires with a blade type connector. Just wiggle it from side to side to remove it. Take the new bulb (DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ON THE NEW LAMP, if you do it will be ruined and you will be replacing it shortly). Once you placed the new lamp in, you can follow the instructions in the reverse order to put things back together.

10. When you are totally done, before you hook the battery back up and totally button things up, try the new light out quickly to make sure its working. All done." Unquote.

Security light comes on intermintently then car will not start for ten minutes it will do this quite often for awhile then will quit for a long time any ideas that don't cost more than the car is worth?

I have a Technical Service Bulletin. I'll even hand copy it from my program.

    TECHNICAL

Engine stalls, Security Lamp illuminated, DTCs (Replace Theft Deterrent Control Module)

    Models:
2000-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix built prior to Vin Breakpoint 3F115058

    Condition

Some customers may comment that the vehicle starts then stalls and the security lamp is illuminated. These symptoms may be intermittent and after several attempts, the vehicle may stay running.

    Cause

The condition may be caused by either a chafed wire in the theft deterrent module wiring harness or an electrical interference within the theft deterrent module not allowing the fuel enable signal to be detected.

    Correction

Replace the theft deterrent module with Part No. 10335045 and reroute the module wiring harness to a new location using the procedure listed below.

1 Reroute the module harness on the outside of the steering column channel and tie strap the lower portion to the larger ignition bundle.

    2. Replace the tie strap removed from the tilt head during disassembly. Secure the new strap in the hole in the tilt mechanism and around the module wire and ignition SIR wires, but below the tie strap located on the sir wires.
