Yes the etc light will stay on and the problem is with 2-3 shift solenoid there is a electrical connector on the side of the transmission near radiator. you can test the circuit with DVOM meter to find the faulty solenoid.

IF YOU CAN GET A SCAN TOOL YOU CAN MANUALY CYCLE THE SOLENOID 3 TIMES. IF THAT DOESNT WORK TRY REPLACING THE PCM.

SOURCE: 96 pontiac grand am 2.4 starter doesnt stay engaged

Check that the flywheel is not missing any teeth. Also check the geartip at the starter where it kicks into the flywheel for wear at the tip.

SOURCE: 97 grande am keeps throwing engine code p0440 smoke tested no leaks what else could cause this

Replacing the gas cap is the only other thing I could think of if there are no leaks on the line and you replaced all the evap/purge components.

Perhaps an issue with the pigtail on the solenoid/sensor or a problem on the wires between the sensor and the computer. See what the readings are with a OBD2 scanner that does more than just pull codes. That might narrow it down.

I have silverado 2005....2500hd 6L 8V i just have 1 gear...car have no transformesion and i get code p758 with p2761

p0758 is- shift solinoid B curcuit electrical, TCC pressure control solinoid CKT open, its a possibility that the ignition switch is failing! it shares the same curcuit. the code does not pinpoint the problem it just tells which curcuit its in. so testing is needed to verify problem. GOOD-DAY!

My 1990 park avenue has hesitation and sometimes shuts off but will start back up goes a mile or so and shut off again

Look at your fuel filter or fuel pump or a bad fitting on your gas line. If the code p0756 shows up. It will be your SHIFT SOLENOID B CKT PREFORMANCE or STUCK (OFF). But more than likely look at your fuel pump.

2003 Ford Focus p1747 short solenoid error

THIS IS A COMMON CODE.. THIS IS A PRESSURE SELENOID LOCATED INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION.... SOMETIMES CALLED A SHIFT SELENOID... THERE IS A FIRST TO SECOND SHIFT SELENOID AND A SECOND TO THIRD AND A THIRD TO OVERDRIVE... THE SHORT CIRCUIT CODE CAN BE TWO THINGS.. FIRST A BAD SPOT IN WIRING HARNESS CAUSING SHORT CONDITION.. DOUBTFULL... OTHER CONDITION IS THE SELENOID ITS SELF COULD BE GOING BAD DRAWING MORE CURRENT THAN NORMAL. THIS WILL REGISTER THIS CODE....YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION PAN TO EXSPOSE THE VALVE BODY.. THERE YOU WILL SEE SEVERAL SHIFT SELENOIDS...WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE REPLACEMENT IT WILL GIVE YOU A GOOD IDEA WHAT TO LOOK FOR....THEY JUST PLUG IN AND 1 OR 2 SCREWS HOLD THEM IN.... LET ME KNOW IF MORE HELP NEEDED
