That means they were filled with steam instead of water and coolant. That would signify that not enough coolant was put in and that it had a vapour lock.

I have a 1986 Chevy Silverado with a 350 engine, why does my top radiator hose keep collapsing?

The hose collapses because there is air in the cooling system. If the system is properly full, the hose cannot collapse because water does not compress. If there is a leak in the system, you need to repair it, refill and bleed the cooling system, and ensure that the reservoir has a proper level of coolant in it. If there are no leaks in the system, then the reservoir (recovery) bottle could be low on coolant, allowing air into the system during the expansion and contraction that occurs as the coolant heats and cools. Another thing that can cause this issue is a defective/worn out radiator cap. I would recommend replacement of the cap, refill and bleed the cooling system, then top off the reservoir and then monitor for any further issues.

2008 grand vitara had radoator hose collapsed

Hoses collapsed when water could not be drawn back into cooling system from over flow tank. There has to be an obstruction preventing water to flow back into radiator when car cools down.

I have a 97 jeep grand cherokee...the radiator hose is collapsed. Does that mean I need to replace it or add more fluid or something else?

Hi , it sounds like you have caused a vacum i.e. not enough water in the system. You have to check you car when the engine and water has cooled down. The expansion tank is were the water level has a line you must fill it up to the level line with water when the engine is cold. And when its cold weather you have to use antifreeze to top up the level.

What cause lower hose to collapse afer cool down

I would start by replacing the radiator cap. A bad cap can stop the flow of coolant from the coolant reservoir back into the engine when the engine cools down. This will cause a vacuum and collapse the hoses.

The other possibility is the lower hose is starting to get weak. This compounded with a radiator cap that is not functioning correctly will cause the the hose to collapse when the engine cools off.

2002 5.7l. What would cause the upper radiator hose to collapse?

When an engine is shut down, the coolant temperature begins to drop. If the vacuum valve in the radiator cap fails, the resulting vacuum in the cooling system can cause a radiator hose to collapse

2005 Pontiac Grand Prix upper radiator hose collapses bought new one but still does it

By collapsing you mean sucking together . . If so this indicates a vacuum being generated in the radiator by the water pump especially under rpm,s. This indicates that the thermostat may not be in the right way or you have the incorrect thermostat. I know of bottom radiator hoses sucking in from blocked radiator cores ( they can come with wire coil to prevent this) but it is difficult to see how this could be the same for the top hose which in effect is a delivery hose to the radiator.

Why would the hoses connected to the radiator collapse? and what would the fix for this be? The engine did not seem to be overheating and it does not seem to be leaking.

the hoses are in need of springs inside on that model they come with these from the factory to keep them from collapsing also the thermostat is delaying in opening up to creat a vacuum so watch your temp sensor in the future for over heating

Sounds like the radiator is clogged, have the cooling system flushed, the water pump pumps water into the engine and it comes out the top hose to return to the radiator to circulate through it to cool, if the radiator is clogged the water pressure will build on the top hose, also look at the bottom radiator hose, if it collapses when you rev the engine the radiator is clogged, although sometimes the bottom hoses are reinforced with wire to prevent them from collapsing so just because they do not collapse it does not mean the radiator is not clogged.
