Have a fuel pressure test done on the fuel manifold and check filter and regulator operation.

Car wont start

My routine to check non-starting motors: (petrol/gas models)

  • Check immobilizer status
  • Check fuel supply -does it reach the fuel rail when starting. If not OK, check 12v supply to fuel pump when starting. If OK, fuel pump maybe dead.If not present, check fuel pump fuse and relay.
  • If fuel supply is OK, check spark ignition. If not OK, follow the supply circuit backwards to the ECM. Coils and/or ignition amplifier connector should have one 12v supply to it when ignition switch is on.
For Diesels with 'common rails' you can take same approach for fuel. No ignition testing possible. The diesel fuel pump still needs battery power. It will make some sound when IGN is on. If not, check ALL fuses and relays.

1994 Mazda PU Truck sometimes won't start if shutoff for 5-10 minutes.. Several tries later, it will start. spark seems ok, it gets enough fuel for a second, but then poops out. fuel pump shuto

Well there is no shutoff relay, but there is a fuel pump relay that powers the pump.
I would check it first. The computer grounds the relay for 3 seconds when you crank the engine to boost fuel pressure. Once the engine starts the pump is powered only if you have oil pressure.

Car will not start, when started and put into drive it dies.

first of all. be sure fuel filter is ok! there should be a fuel pressure fitting under hood at fuel rail. just press this valve, and see if any fuel is getting to engine. it looks like a tire valve. the only other way to check is to remove the pump. hope this helps you. also be sure the fuel pump relay is ok and not shutting pump down. good-day !

No start. change fuel pump and runs perfectly for one day. next day starts drives out of the driveway and sputters and stalls down the road. checked the fuel censor. ok. fuel regulator. ok. clean the...

Get the o2 sensor checked. The o2 sensor before and after catalytic converter. Also check the fuel pump relay in the engine compartment fuse box under hood.Try cleaning the sensor, then check. If its getting to much fuel.then it can be problem with o2 sensor.Or fuel pressure regulator.Regulator is checked ok, so get the o2 sensor checked and replaced.----------------

My truck is having a hard time starting but eventually it would start. I changed all spark plugs an what is the next step. If my fuel pump works ill change the fuel filter again. If the fuel filter didn't...

make sure the plug gaps are 25th as a wide plug gap will cause bad starting ,cannot see a fuel filter causing bad starting though but as a thought first check the vacumn pipe to the fuel opening valve on the fuel rail is a valve with a vacumn pipe running to it ,the vacumn of the engine opens this valve to allow the fuel for the injectors and if it has a vacumn loss then it will not start ,as for the pump then just check for a 12v feed to it engine is cranked ,lots of people change the fuel pump as they think their is no feed but it will only show a feed when engine is cranked then when it runs it will also show 12v ,right must go to make the tea or iam in the doghouse

I guess you need to check fuel pressure to see if it is bleeding off. If it is than the two common causes are a leaking fuel pressure regulator or a bad fuel pump.

We have trouble filling the gas tank on our 2002 echo. The pump keeps shutting off

sorry to say, this is typical of the echo, after a couple yrs, the fill tube begins collapsing, not allowing enuff fuel flow,, your alternatives are to replacew the fill tubes, or to just pump fuel very slowly.
