Water pump bearings make a rumbling/ tinny noise and there will be coolant loss out of a drain hole underneath the pump housing. This allows water that has by passed the seal to run out before it damages the bearing

It could be a multitude of things, noises in cars can be deceptive, your overheating problem may point towards the water pump or water pump pulley, is there any coolant leaks?, does it happen when the car is running but not moving?, does it happen at all speeds and engine rpm?, there are lots of factors to consider, my advice if you are unsure get somebody with mechanical knowledge to have a look before it becomes terminal and costs you your engine.

Sthe accessory drive belt is making whirring noises, and the coolant holder thing never really keeps water in it. i have to keep refilling it.

sounds like your water pump is shot. When they go there is a by pass that will leak coolant. The noise you hear is most likely the bearings in the pump itself.
Get it serviced asap or you run the risk of overheating your engine causing more damage.

I would replace the faulty waterpump and belt asap you could cause major engine damage by overheating it . the squealing is either caused by the belt slipping from having antifreeze on it or the water pump may have totally locked up .

Whats the symptoms for defective water pump in GMC Sierra 1/2 pick up ?

The symptoms would be the car overheating and not cooling down, Also in some cases the water pump will leak. With a overheating problem its always a good idea to check the thermostat before jumping to water pump. Hope this helped =)

What noise would the water pump make if is is going bad or is bad on a 2004 aveo

It could be making a whining, screeching, clattering, or even a whistling noise if the problem is a bearing going out, but it doesn't have to make any noise to be faulty. Look at the water pump. Most have a vent hole (or "weep"hole) and if there is any coolant leaking from the water pump, it is defective. Is the vehicle running hot/overheating? Anyway, sure hope this helped and best wishes.

Overheating and now engine 'clicking noises.

possible causes of overheating are, dirty cooling system, clogged radiator, bad thermostat. Use only distilled water with a good quality coolant.

still overheating? have your top head checked - warped head, valves, valve seats, etc. You might need to have your engine's compression checked if it is still within specs.
