Easy for a old timer like me ,the larger D terminal goes to the regulator and the smaller field terminal is the warning light ,now inside the main wire goes to one of the brushes and the other one goes to the casing ,to test hold casing on the NEG battery terminal and the pos one is connected to large connection and the motor will spin like a electric motor .To reverse polarity for a older + earth you reverse the connection casing to positive and the D and F connections joined together and connected to the NEG and spinm the motor ,positive earth dynamo ,simple isnt it

SOURCE: Tow bar trailer socket wiring connection point to car wiring?

The connectors for towing wire harnesses on foresters are generally on the passenger side, below the rear taillight inside the cargo space. some require pulling up the foam block that is between the spare tire compartment and the taillight. Check where you replace the tailights from inside the car, if there isn't a matching connector hanging out there, check around the spare tire compartment, see if you can remove the carpeted foam block next to the compartment and find the plug under there.

Anyone have a wiring diagram or know how to hook this up ?

Black and red are pretty standard for negative & positive battery terminals.
There is likely a model number (pic isn't good enough to see the finer print) on the label but the larger numerals are probably serial numbers and without the model number, you may have a problem finding the exact installation info you want.

The link below has illustrations for a different model but manufacturers will generally stick with a wiring code to make installation and even production simpler:

That company does not have the web 'presence' they should have by now.

Not trying to be stupid I know nothing about electrical what are the brush terminals

On motors/generators (starter, alternator, etc,) the brushes make the connection to the rotating armature. You can read up a little on motors and generators. Bottom line is, the brush terminals provide the access point for the outside world - to electrical leads. If you think of an electric drill for something simple...power is applied to the brush terminals, the brushes connect that power to the multiple rotor points as it spins. Slightly different system with DC power but the brushes serve same basic function - providing an electrical contact to something rotating. You may be dealing with a starter or alternator where faulty (worn) brushes or faulty brush terminal wiring is stopping power from getting to the starter, or from the alternator. Does that help at all?

How to wire a12 volt dynamo on atractor

now if your converting a dynamo to a alternator then no problem ,on the back of a self exciting alternator is two wires to worry about ,firstly a big thick wire directly from the alternator to the large + terminal on the back of the alternator to the battery + terminal then as a self exciting alternator this alone will charge the battery like a lucas ACR type and the small wire from the dynamo which is the warning light control can be connected to the small terminal on the alternator with no modification. Now later types are controlled by the cars ECU unit so these type are not suitable but older cars from the early 90s will convert and be usefull with no problem any alternator with a output exceeding 30amp will suffice for a older vehicle that was a dynamo as most were 25 or 30 amp output and limited current usage like 45/55 watt headlight bulbs compared to modern cars so this conversion is relativly easy but if your really good reduce the size of the pulley used and a different V belt to accomodate so its charging on idle .Yes i fully aware that the pundits will say that you need a relay and a fuse and whatever but it will work perfectly ok when done simply this way you can always push start the vehicle as the alternator will start to produce current so long as a ignition light lights up this is enough to get you going ,well with a proper car with a manual gearbox you can anyway

Ihave a 2002 grand am and the cruise will work sometimes and then at other times it wont, also my turn signals wont work sometimes but do work other times! any suggestions? ty Tommy

Loose ground and or a corroded fuse. Check all the fuses related to engine management and if your battery terminals are corroded remove your terminal connectors and wire brush them clean.

Remove all accessible ground connections, wire brush them and apply die-electric grease then reconnect the connection.

What type or size battery is needed for a 2004 Honda CRV.

Hello,

24F or 35 is the battery size for the Honda CRV or a 12 volt battery. As for the type You can get a dry cell battery.

To replace the battery, please follow the steps below:
  1. Look for the battery on the driver's side, just behind the slanted headlight box.
  2. Remove the metal holder with a flathead screwdriver. Take out the long screws that hold the plate in place.
  3. Disconnect the cable ends from the battery terminals with a battery terminal puller.
  4. Lift the battery out of the compartment. Keep your gloves on at all times to avoid getting acid on your hands.
  5. Use a wire brush to clean the surface that holds the battery. Wipe it down with a damp cloth and let it dry.
  6. Clean the insides of the connector cables with a pointed wire brush and dry them off with an old cloth you can throw away.
Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!
