2009 Smart Cabriolet instrament cluster blank

I had a new battery installed and they tried to supply an alternate power source to keep the clock set. The new battery started the car but no instrument cluster lights, blinkers, and head lights work but no dimming. Car runs fins=e otherwise. I unhooked the new battery to try to reset but no difference. I am 200 miles from dealer!

My instrament cluster, lights and gauges, are out. what can cause this?

The instrument cluster in this model is really a computer, it has likely failed. Pull the cluster out and make sure the connectors are tight and the ground and battery + circuits are all working, if they are then send it out for repair to a local GM electronics repair shop, ask the local GM dealer for the one he uses for such repairs.

sounds like you need to have the alternator checked, if it were the instrument cluster the van would still run, you may still have a problem with the cluster, but the running 2 miles and the battery going dead is the charging system, you may have two problems. fix the charging system first then worry about the dash.

Instament cluster not working on 95 jeep cherokee

you need to replace the cluster if you can find the "exact" model in a junk yard with "low" miles then get that one otherwise it might be best to buy new and you need to have the "body control module" checked. all widows and doors work? have it checked but your cluster is fried.

1995 audi cabriolet speedo not working

Did Audi scan for diagnostic codes? there are codes in the range P0500 - 03 and P0720 - 23 if there is no codes check for a bad wire from the MFI ECM, It is a white/blue wire (B9 on the ECM) to the internment cluster or maybe an other ECM. Hope it may help

Remove a 93 Golf 3 VR6 Dashboard

  1. 5b63f60.jpge173e8a.jpg
  2. On Cabriolet with an air bag, disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 20 minutes for the back-up power supply to discharge. Make sure no one is in the vehicle when connecting the battery. Unintended deployment of the air bag can cause serious or fatal injury.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the gear shift knob and boot and remove the center console.
  5. Remove the steering wheel.
  6. Remove the knee bar from below the dashboard.
  7. Remove the steering column support bracket and lower the column.
  8. Pull the knobs off the heater controls and remove the control assembly and the radio.
  9. Remove the headlight switch and switch blanks to gain access to the screws. Remove the instrument cluster and trim panel around the cluster.
  10. Remove the glove compartment.
  11. At the firewall, remove the plastic tray and remove the 2 nuts holding the top of the dashboard.
  12. .Remove the main fuse panel and disconnect the plugs at the back. Disconnect the ground wires.
  13. Disconnect any remaining wiring from the dashboard and remove the 4 last screws; 1 at each end and 1 at each end of the instrument cluster area. Remove the dashboard.
To install:
  1. Fit the dashboard into place and start all 4 screws, then tighten them.
  2. Install the fuse panel and connect the wiring.
  3. Secure the steering column into place.
  4. Install the switches and instrument cluster.
  5. Install the heater controls and radio.
  6. Install the console and connect all wiring.
  7. Connect the battery to test the electrical system.
  8. Install the steering wheel, knee bar and all remaining components.
Good luck...
