I just put a new clutch in a 1999 Nissan Maxima and now the speedometer does not work

If it was working before you got the clutch replaced, it is most probably the mechanics fault. They may have broken a wire or cable or the speedo sensor as a result of not disconnecting it before trying to remove the transmission. You need to bring it to another mechanic to find the problem to see if it was a result of the clutch removal. Then you may be able to seek retribution from your original mechanic.

2004 maxima speedometer not working

If the speedometer and odometer are not working, the problem could be the speed sensor in the transmission.
If just the speedometer is out, chances are the problem is the speedometer itself.

Is it high or low? Did you put new tires and rims on recently with a bigger or smaller outside diameter? If so then you need to change speedo gears.

Speedometer on 1999 maxima wrong, faster you go the farther off. approx. 20 mph faster at 60 mph. replaced vss.

do you have aftermarket wheel on the car?? bigger wheels can cause speed signal failure resulting in speedo acting up. different size tires will have different circumference causing speedo issues.
