2006 Chrysler Pacifica steering rack replacement. What is the pinch bolt held by? I didnt get a good look at it and it was late so I figured I would try to look it up today on the internet but no luck, so here is my question. Is it just a pin? I was able to put a small alan wrench all the way through it, but it looks to have a hex shape to it so it kinda looks like a set screw.
There are two different fuse panels on these, the obvious one, is under the hood. The other is in the trunk under the spare tire access panel. The "fuse or breaker" is listed as a 20AMP in position # 44.

Can't get out Park, starts ok, tried the manuel thing pressing the pink release button, nothing. Had the car towed but they had to hoist it on a truck. Was there a recall for this?
Place parking brake lever in -full released- position.
Raise and support vehicle.
Remove plug in parking brake shoe support to access adjuster star-wheel.
Through the access hole, rotate the adjuster star wheel in the following direction to expand the shoes outward against the drum:
Left brake - Rotate star-wheel toward rear of vehicle.
Right brake - Rotate star-wheel toward front of vehicle.
Using an appropriate tool, turn adjuster star wheel until wheel will not rotate (dead lock).
Back off adjuster six detents (teeth).
Rotate wheel, checking for light drag. If drag is too heavy, continue to back off adjuster one detent at a time until light drag is present. Do not back off star-wheel more than 17 detents from wheel lock.
Install access plug.
Adjust opposite wheel parking brake shoes using same method.
Lower vehicle.
Apply and release parking brake lever once to ensure proper operation of parking brakes.
Removal & Installation
NOTE
The following procedure may be used to remove shoes on either side of the vehicle.
Lock out automatic adjuster in parking brake lever.
Raise and support vehicle.
Access and remove rear hub and bearing.
Remove parking brake cable bolt at knuckle.
Completely back off parking brake shoe adjustment.
Remove parking brake shoe adjuster spring.
Remove shoe adjuster.
Remove upper brake shoe hold-down clip and pin.
Remove lower brake shoe hold-down clip and pin.
Remove upper and lower shoes with return spring from shoe actuator.
Remove return spring from shoes.

To install:
Install return spring between upper and lower shoes.
NOTE
Before installing shoes on actuator, make sure actuator hooked to rear cable is positioned with word -UP- facing outward.
Install upper and lower shoes with return spring on shoe actuator located on parking brake cable.
Install lower brake shoe hold-down pin through rear of support and lower shoe, then install hold-down clip.
Install upper brake shoe hold-down pin through rear of support and upper shoe, then install hold-down clip.
Install shoe adjuster. Place end of adjuster with star wheel upward.
Install parking brake shoe adjuster spring.
Install bolt securing parking brake cable to knuckle and tighten bolt to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
Using Brake Shoe Gauge, Special Tool C-3919, or equivalent, measure inside diameter of parking brake drum portion of rotor.
Place Gauge over parking brake shoes at widest point.
Using adjuster star wheel, adjust parking brake shoes until linings on both park brake shoes just touch jaws on gauge. This will give a good preliminary adjustment of parking brake shoes, before a final adjustment is made at end of this procedure.
Install hub and bearing with wheel speed sensor as well as all components necessary to access it.
Lower vehicle.
Unlock automatic adjuster in parking brake lever.
Perform final adjustment of parking brake shoes
Adjustment
This vehicle is equipped with permanently sealed rear wheel bearings. There is no periodic lubrication or maintenance recommended for these units.
Removal & Installation
Raise and support vehicle.
Remove wheel mounting nuts, then tire and wheel assembly.
If equipped with AWD:
Remove cotter pin, nut lock and spring washer from half shaft.
While a helper applies brakes to keep hub from turning, remove hub nut and washer.
Remove brake caliper and rotor from hub and bearing assembly.

Disconnect vehicle wiring harness connector at wheel speed sensor connector.
Unclip wheel speed sensor connector from spare tire mounting support.
Disconnect two sensor cable routing clips on rear suspension crossmember.
Disconnect two sensor cable routing clips along toe link.
Disconnect sensor cable from bracket on brake support.
Completely loosen, but do not remove four bolts fastening hub and bearing in place. Once loosened from threads in hub and bearing, push bolts up against rear of hub and bearing to keep brake support plate in place when hub and bearing is removed.

Pull hub and bearing off knuckle and half shaft (if equipped with AWD), then thread wheel speed sensor cable through hole in brake support plate as it is removed with hub and bearing.
To install:
Position hub and bearing bolts though rear of knuckle and parking brake support just enough to hold support in place as hub and bearing is installed.
Install hub and bearing by first feeding end of wheel speed sensor cable through hole in bottom of parking brake support. As this is being done, if equipped with AWD, slide hub and bearing onto half shaft. Place hub and bearing through brake support, onto knuckle, lining up mounting bolt holes with bolts and placing wheel speed sensor head at bottom.
Install four bolts fastening hub and bearing in place. Tighten mounting bolts to 60 ft. lbs. (81 Nm).
Place wheel speed sensor cable routing grommet into bracket on parking brake support.
Route wheel speed sensor cable along toe link and rear suspension crossmember connecting routing clips where shown.
Connect vehicle wiring harness to wheel speed sensor connector.
Install brake rotor and caliper.
If equipped with AWD:
Install washer and hub nut on end of half shaft.
While a helper applies brakes to keep hub from turning, tighten hub nut to 180 ft. lbs. (244 Nm).
Install spring washer, nut lock and cotter pin on end of half shaft.
Install tire and wheel assembly. Install and tighten wheel mounting nuts to 100 ft. lbs. (135 Nm).

Raise the intermediate shaft seal and remove intermediate shaft-to-stub shaft pinch bolt.
Remove the air cleaner and disconnect the pressure hoses from the steering gear.
Raise and support the vehicle on jackstands, then remove both front wheel and tire assemblies.
Remove the cotter pins and nuts from both tie rod ends. Using tool J-6627 or BT-7101, press the tie rod ends from the steering knuckle.
If equipped with an Air Management pipe, remove the bracket bolt from the crossmember.
Remove the 2 rear cradle mounting bolts and lower the rear of the cradle about 4-5 in. (102-127mm).
WARNING
If the rear of the cradle is lowered too far, the engine components nearest the cowl may be damaged.
If equipped, remove the rack and pinion heat shield.

Remove the rack and pinion mounting bolts, then the gear assembly through the left wheel opening.
To install:
Install the gear assembly through the left wheel opening and install the mounting bolts.
Install the heat shield.
Raise the rear of the cradle and install the mounting bolts.
Install the bracket bolt to the crossmember under the air management pipe.
Install the tie rod ends to the steering knuckles, install the retaining nuts and insert new cotter pins.
Install the front wheels and lower the vehicle.
Install the high pressure hoses to the steering gear and install the air cleaner.
Install the intermediate shaft seal and the intermediate shaft-to-stub shaft pinch bolt.
2.2L Engine
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Install an engine support fixture J-28467-A, or the equivalent.
Raise and safely support the vehicle.
Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
Remove the intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt.
Disconnect the intermediate shaft from stub shaft.
CAUTION
Failure to disconnect the intermediate shaft from the rack and pinion stub shaft can result in damage to the steering gear and/or intermediate shaft. This damage can cause loss of steering control which could result in personal injury.
Remove the exhaust pipe hanger bracket near rear of frame including the brake line retainer and rubber exhaust pipe hangers.
Remove the engine and transaxle mount nuts at the subframe.
Support the rear of the subframe with jack stands.
Remove the rear subframe bolts and discard.
Lower the subframe for access to rack and pinion.
Do not lower the rear of the cradle too far, as damage to engine components nearest the cowl may result.
Remove the cotter pins and castle nuts from the outer tie rod ends and separate the tie rod ends from the steering knuckles using a suitable puller.
Disconnect the power steering lines from the steering gear.
Remove the rack and pinion mounting bolts and nuts.
Remove the rack and pinion through left wheel opening.
To Install:
Install the rack and pinion through left wheel opening.
Install the rack and pinion mounting bolts and nuts and tighten to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm).
Connect the power steering lines to the rack using new O-rings and tighten the fittings to 13 ft. lbs. (17 Nm) on the return line and 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm) on the pressure line.
Install the power steering line clip to steering gear.
Connect the tie rod ends to the steering knuckles. Tighten the castle nuts to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm). Install new cotter pins.
Raise the subframe into position and install new frame mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
Remove the jack.
Install the engine mount and transaxle mount nuts and tighten to 39 ft. lbs. (53 Nm).
Install the exhaust pipe hanger bracket near the rear of frame including brake line retainer and rubber exhaust pipe hanger.
Connect the intermediate shaft to the stub shaft and tighten the pinch bolt to 29 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
Install the tire and wheel assembly.
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the support fixture.
Connect the negative battery cable.
Refill the power steering reservoir and bleed the system.
Check the front end alignment and adjust as necessary.
3.1L Engine (VIN M)
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove engine torque strut from engine.
Install an engine support fixture J-28467-A, or the equivalent.
Raise and safely support the vehicle.
Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
Remove the cotter pins and castle nuts from the outer tie rod ends and separate the tie rod ends from the steering knuckles using a suitable puller.
Remove the center engine and rear transaxle mounts from the frame.
Remove the intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt.
Disconnect the intermediate shaft from stub shaft.

You aren't saying what engine is in it, or whether it is manual or power steering. Here is the R/R procedure for power steering rack for all engine sizes.
Except 2.2L and 1993-96 3.1L Engines
See Figure 1
Raise the intermediate shaft seal and remove intermediate shaft-to-stub shaft pinch bolt.
Remove the air cleaner and disconnect the pressure hoses from the steering gear.
Raise and support the vehicle on jackstands, then remove both front wheel and tire assemblies.
Remove the cotter pins and nuts from both tie rod ends. Using tool J-6627 or BT-7101, press the tie rod ends from the steering knuckle.
If equipped with an Air Management pipe, remove the bracket bolt from the crossmember.
Remove the 2 rear cradle mounting bolts and lower the rear of the cradle about 4-5 in. (102-127mm).

The column itself is not that hard to replace in most gm vehicles. take lower valance panel off under the dash to expost the majority of the column. if you look under the hood you will see something that looks like a small universal joint called a rag joint which connects the column to the steering rack, this is normally held in by a pinch bolt, remove the bolt but dont slide anything apart yet. next get in the car and make sure the front wheels are straight ahead and the steering wheel is straight ( this will make things easier to line up when reinstalling)
disconnect the battery now so you dont arc anything or set off any air bags during the rest of the repair.
under the dash on the column itself should be 4 bolts that go through the brackets that hold the column to the underside of the dash, remove these 4 bolts and the column should drop down. this will allow you to disconnect any electrical connections to the column. once electrics and mount bolts are undone the colum should be able to be slid out ( there will be resistance from the pinch bolt but a bit of force will get it off)
set column side by side with the replacement and make sure they are identical.
if all looks the same then just reverse the procedure to install ( pinch bolt is the hardset thing to line up and it is a good idea to have an extra set of eyes around to help you line it up) reclip the electrics, bolt up the mounts, put bolt in pinch bolt and reattach the battery
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
NOTE: The wheels of the vehicle must be straight ahead and the steering column in the LOCK position before disconnecting the steering column or intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Failure to do so will cause the SIR coil assembly (clock spring) to become uncentered, which may cause damage to the assembly.
Lock the steering column by installing the J42640 into the underside of the steering column.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the tires and wheels.
Remove the power steering gear heat shield.
Remove or disconnect the following:

Intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt and coupling from gear
Pressure and return pipes from the gear
Electrical connector, if equipped Stabilizer shaft links at lower control arms
Remove the left stabilizer shaft insulator.
Rotate the stabilizer shaft to access steering gear bolts.
The outer tie rod retaining nuts.
Using J24319-B separate the outer tie rods from the steering knuckles.
Rack and pinion attaching bolts
Rack and pinion assembly through the left wheel opening.
Transfer the outer tie rods if replacing the power steering gear.
To Install:
Install or connect the following:
Rack and pinion assembly through the left wheel opening and tighten the bolts to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm)
Electrical connector, if equipped Pressure and return lines to the steering gear and tighten the fittings to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
Heat shield and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 7 ft. Lbs. (10 N)
Install the left stabilizer shaft insulator.
Install stabilizer shaft Links to lower control arms
Intermediate shaft to the steering gear and tighten the pinch bolt to 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm)
Install the outer tie rods to the steering knuckles.
Install the outer tie rods retaining nuts. torque the nuts to 22ft.lbs(30 Nm) plus an additional 180 degrees.
Install the tires and wheels.
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the steering column anti rotation pin from the steering column.
Fill and bleed the power steering system.
Adjust the front toe.
Lock the steering column by installing the Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin tool J 42640 into the underside of the steering column--Aurora

RAISE VECHICLE UNTIL SUBFRAME CONTACTS THE BODY.INSTALL REAR SUBFRAME RETAINING BOLTS TORQUE THEM TO 83 - 112 FT LBS.INSTALL EXHAUST SYSTEM FLEX TUBE TO DUAL CONVERTER Y PIPE.INSTALL FRONT WHEELS.INSTALL A NEW PINCH BOLT IN THE STEERING COLUMN INTERMEDIATE SHAFT COUPLING ON THE RACK INPUT SHAFT TORQUE PINCH BOLT TO 25 - 33 FT LBS.POSITION THE STEERING COLUMN OPENING WEATHER SEAL OVER THE STEERING GEAR HOUSING.LOWER THE VECHICLE FILL THE POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR. START THE VECHICLE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS. CHECK FOR PROPER WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND STEERING WHEEL POSITION.BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM.
there is a pinch bolt that holds it in, make sure you straighten the steering wheel first and lock it down with something so it cant move, then remove the pinch bolt and the pressure and discharge lines from the rack there are return lines within the rack that go side to side, you dont need to remove those. Make sure the replacement rack is even when putting back into steering yolk
Hi remove the LEFT front wheel you will see the steering rack lift the rubber boot on the rack there will be a 11mm /7/16 pinch bolt you may have to turn the steering to get to the bolt remove the pinch bolt slide the shaft off the rack now go under the dash remove hush pannel if equiped at the bottom of the column there will be another boot pull it back there will be another pinch bolt remove it slide the steering shaft off the column
CAREFULL NOT TO ROTATE THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE SHAFT IS DISCONNECTED OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE SIR COIL
pull the shaft up through the boot
then rev prev. for reinstalling
