SOURCE: Leaking heater core

Yup, I've done the same thing before. You have to just find a tube of some sort that is small enough to fit inside the hose's going to and from the heater core. Remove both hoses from the heater core, insert the tube into the hoses and put some clamps on both sides nice and tight! Good luck

SOURCE: changed the heater core in 2002 ford ranger, now

Why did you buy a switch? Did the original one meter out bad? Never replace any part till you understand how it works and how to test it. Work the wipers and the lighting issues as two separate problems. The wiper motor or relay etc may have failed around the same time as the heater core. Two separate things Unplug the wiper motor and turn the key on. Meter out the connector in different switch modes. Need a schematic of the circuit. Lights-- Problem is after the fuses and they are the start of most circuits. so you know you have an open circuit like a connector under the dash you disturbed unknowingly during the heat core deal or a loose ground wire.

Changing heater core

Heater Core REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Pinch off the hoses to the rear heater core.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support safely. Disconnect the underbody heater hoses from the rear heater core tubes.
  3. Remove the middle bench, if equipped. Remove the interior left lower quarter trim panel.
  4. Remove the 7 screws that attach the air distribution duct to the floor and unit. Pull the distribution duct straight up to remove.
  5. Remove the 6 screws from the top surface of the unit and remove the unit cover.
  6. Pull the heater core straight up and out of the unit.
  7. The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable and check for leaks.

My blower for heat is only blowing cold air. I have checked all fuses and have changed the thermostat. I think its the control inside the dash that regulates how cold or hot the air is

If the heater core (2 heater core tubes at firewall) is hot and the interior is cold, then the blend door is causing your problem. It is controlled by electrical and vacuum components.

Also, note that the heater core tubes have a valve that is replaced with the entire hose.

Also, the heater core, if plugged can be replaced as follows:
Heater Core REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disable the SIR system, as outlined in this section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Properly drain the cooling system.
  4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  5. Detach the heater hoses from the heater core.
  6. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the instrument panel. For details, please refer to the procedure located in Section 10 of this manual.
  8. Remove the DERM with the attaching bracket.
  9. Detach the heater core cover.
  10. Unfasten the heater core mounting clamps, then remove the heater core. Fig. 1: Exploded view of the heater core and related components 87956021.gif
    To install:
  11. Position the heater core, then secure with the mounting clamps.
  12. Attach the heater core cover.
  13. Install the DERM with the attaching bracket.
  14. Install the instrument panel, as outlined in Section 10 of this manual.
  15. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  16. Connect the heater hoses to the core.
  17. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  18. Properly refill the engine cooling system and check for leaks.
  19. Enable the SIR system.
  20. Connect the negative battery cable, then start the engine and check for proper system operation and/or leaks.

Heater turns off windows dont work and blinker relays dont work when driving

Try unhooking one of the battery cables and leave it off for at least 20 minutes. When you hook it back up the computers should re-boot. That has solved problems for me with heater, interior lites, power windows, AC, day time running lites, power mirrors, CD player, and wipers on GM autos and S-10 PU and Dodge trucks. None of the switches are connected to the device they control anymore. The switch tells the computer to open the window and the computer send a signal to the window motor. When the computer gets confused strange things will happen or not happen. Of course you may have to re-set your radio stations.

How can i get the heater core out of my 2006 toyota corolla

Hello, the heater core is a small heat exchanger located inside the truck, similar to the radiator at the front of the truck. Coolant is circulated from the engine through the heater core and back to the engine. The heater fan blows fresh, outside air through the heater core; the air is heated and sent on to the interior of the truck. For Toyota Pick-ups/Land Cruiser/4Runner 1989-1996 check this reference repair guide...

Heater Core - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
(see Figure 1)
  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the heater unit assembly. Have a lot of towels handy for the leakage of coolant that may spill into your interior.
  3. Remove the fasteners securing the core to the unit, remove the plates and clamps. Pull upwards to remove the core from the unit.
To install:
  1. Inspect the core fins for any blockage. Using compressed air, clean them.
  2. Install the core into the unit placing the plates and clamps into position. Tighten the core screws.
  3. Install the heater unit into the vehicle.
  4. Fill the cooling system.
