Over heaing I have a 2000 chevy impala I don't know what the problem is but when I start the car I have to let it warm up or get hot then I have to keep opening the radiator cap until there is no more antifreaz puring out then I have to fill it back up an push on the hosea till the thermostat opens the I can drive anywhere I want but as soon as the car gets shut off and cools down if I try to start it and go anywhere it will over heat all most seems like the engine gets hot before the coolant in the radiator does.

Overheating? Try this procedure:

  • The thermostat can be stuck close. If you feel the upper hose very hot and the lower hose cooler than normal, it may be a stuck thermostat.

  • Make sure the radiator and the overflow bottle are filled to the proper levels.

  • Bleed air from the coolant system:This is best done by running the engine with the radiator cap off until you see when the air bubbles stop coming up.

  • Check the radiator fans: The easiest way is to turn on the cars air conditioner and turn up the A/C fans. Both radiator fans should come on when the A/C starts

  • Make a pressure test by using a pressure testing tool (available at most auto parts stores). Use the pressure shown on your radiator cap. Most cars are 16 PSI or less, so don't exceed that pressure. Replace the radiator cap if it doesn't hold the pressure.

the best thing to get is the Haynes manual for your car at advanced auto or autozone or somewhere like that and the book will tell you how to take everything apart and put it back. i think the manual is about $16.00

SOURCE: 2005 Impala Leaking Coolant and no heat

Hi lfortunato,

Try the radiator cap, if that doesn't work check your interior heater controls.... as you've already pressure tested, it sounds unlikely to be the pump..... If it was defective it would have leaked with that pressure. The thermostat may also cause the problem, if it's stuck open....

SOURCE: Chevy Trailblazer Engine very loud when starting

it's too early to tell. i,ve never known a light to come on because of a thermostat.you need to see what code was stored. without knowing,im just guessing. but my first thought was a plugged up catalytic converter. that explains the low power, also fuel filter.

I have a 2000 chevy impala my heat doesn't work,

first it to verify the coolant flow. I suspect the heater core isn't flowing, you may need to take a garden hose and take both heater hoses off, and flush in both directions to clean the heater core. flush in both directions until you get clean water flow. I am assuming the coolant level is OK, and the water pump is pumping and the engine is getting warm enough.

I have a 2000 chevy impals 3.4, occasionally the heater will blow hot but most times it's Luke warm to cold air. My cooling system was completely checked over (due to it

Two things Come to mind, Since you had it checked. One is low freon, second is a bad compressor. Both of these cause your problem. To check a system you need to measure the low and high pressure. This will tell you where to start looking.

2000 chevy impala starts shaking at 50mh buts stops at sixty and drives on higher speeds just fine. Already had it balanced three times what else could it be?

You may have a wheel bearing that needs to be replaced. You may also have a bad CV joint which are on the ends of your front drive axles. Make sure that one of your wheels is not bent. You may also have a damaged tire but the person who balanced your tires should have checked for this. A good repair shop should be able to check these things for you if you don't know how to.

I have a 2002 impala and my A/C keeps blowing hot air. When I put in freeon, it works for a while then the next day, hot again.

theres probably a leak in your lines or compressor. to check, lift your car, put in a new can and check to see if you hear or see any leaks in the lines or compressor

2001 Chevy Impala

If you have done this already, then bleed the cooling system, this is all you lack, just get the air out of the system, two bleed ports, one on the thermostat housing, and one on the engine near the water pump, just bleed them out as the car warms up,the thermostat bleeder last,if this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.
