I recently brought my 2001 ford Mondeo 2lt diesel for NCT (Irish car test) and it failed as the rear back seat belt was not releasing. I opened up the seat and sprayed WD40 etc and tried to get it to work but to no avail. As I need the car I put the seat back together but left the seat belt roller mechanism outside the car seat to see if it can be sorted out...any ideas on what could be wrong anybody, please? Regards ~~regards, Joe from Ireland
I wouldnt have bothered posting the problem if I was going to go out and buy a replacement one, does anyone out there know what the problem actually is with the seat belt already in the rear of the car???.....thanks JOeI wouldnt have bothered posting the problem if I was going to go out and buy a replacement one, does anyone out there know what the problem actually is with the seat belt already in the rear of the car???.....thanks JOe

You do not fix seat belts you replace them, the chance of the seat belt retractor not functioning correctly and failing to lock the belt in a collision is just not worth saving a few bucks, wouldn't you agree?
Any fuse that stops when the ignition switch is off, otherwise the camera will be powered up all the time. Easy way to test is with a voltmeter. Connect one lead ro the fuse under test and the other to a body ground. With the key on test for voltage. Turn off key. If the voltage is gone use that fuse. If not proceed to do the test on other fuses until you find one that goes off with the key.
There is a manual pull boot release you can use to open the boot. It is normally located just inside the boot behind the back seat. Your car has a fold down section on the rear seat back. Fold down the rear section of the back seat and you will see the manual release.
if it is a rear one release any pressur on it by folding the back rest down then easing the belt out. if its a front one it might be easier to un-bolt seatbelt fron the floor
yes they can fail it but if u remove the rear seat and belt then it will pass advise NO REAR SEAT but they cant fail it 4 not being there as they cant acually test it! thanks jezza
