Ohhhhhh, sometimes folks get in a hurry changing belts and disconnect the crank sensor. Its sow by the crankshaft pully. It's a plug that came apart.

Suzuki K6a engine. Turns over but won't start

we dont have this engine in USA< (this forum is USA forum.....)
what year, what car? ?? what country?
the k6a fits many cars, and many years and can be carb or EFI fueled.

the K6a line up, do tell what you are driving....please.
now to answer in GENERIC Mr. Otto Cycle mode. (gas engines)
no spark, check spark.
never tuned up, ever.
low compression, find timing chain slipped or worse.
twin cam 3 cylinder.
with chain drive. if chain is/was quiet, the cam timing should be good. as is compression over 150psi.
if compression is good, and spark good, x3
then it will run on test fuel, does it?
of not clogged melted CAT?

How do i tell if dist is in time with crankshaft suspect chain jumped

Does the vehicle run at all? If so, it is probably NOT the timing chain. Unfortunately, if it IS the timing chain, you may have already damaged the engine. The only way to validate the integrity of the engine is to perform a compression test to see if you have adequate and fairly even compression across all cylinders. If so, you have not got a timing chain problem. If compression is low on one or more cylinders, then the timing chain is a likely culprit and you will need to tear the engine down to evaluate what repairs will be required.

Can any one tell me , if the timing belt breaks on a 4E - FE toyota engine , will the valves be damaged ?

i dont think so.... could be the timing chain... I would definitely have that checked because if your timing chain goes out.... we are talking serious cash

I replaced the timing gears and chain in my 85 fiero gt and it wont fire up ive checked the compression and tried 123456 and that dont work

Thats the correct firing order 123456,You know on those engine the push rod tends to fly out and the rocker arm nuts tend to loosen out.

Ive changed almost every component on my car that may not make it want to fire off, im not getting any fire to my 1 plug i have changed my coils as well as the module the only thing i havent done is...

Hello there, sounds pretty frustrating. Before it broke down was there a check engine light? Or is there reason to suspect the timing chain like overspeeding the engine or just cutting off while running? Did you have the trouble codes read out or read them out yourself? You need four things for the engine to run. Air, fuel, spark, compression. First check and make sure there are no retrictions blocking the incoming air. Then simply turn your key to the run position but do not try to start, listen for a hum or whine coming from the rear of the vehicle. This will be the electric fuel pump running. This will tell you you probably are getting fuel pressure to your injectors. If you are to this point on the checklist we need spark. Now are you saying you do not get spark at the number 1 plug or all plugs? If you have changed these parts, Ignition module, coils, plug wires, spark plugs then I would suspect crank sensor if timing chain is good. It is rare to lose compression on newer motors unless overheated badly, timing chain broken or jumped teeth, How many miles? If very high mileage then maybe compression. If it is none of these things it may be something more serious with the ecm or something very simple that was looked over. First before any of this though, check all fuses and then check codes, a DTC may point you directly to the problem, even the air mass meter can cause the vehicle to not run.

Engine is back fireing

Backfiring can be caused if the timing has changed.
Judging from the age of your truck, it's quite possible that the timing gears have slipped. This will throw the timing of the spark off even if you set the timing according to the marks. The way to tell is to remove the #1 spark plug and crank the engine over in taps... until you get it up on compression in the #1 cylinder...you can tell if you put your finger over the spark plug hole as you tap it thru..
Then check the timing marks...if the marks aren't near the proper lcoation, it's probably the timing gear/chain...
This is a common occurence when after tuning up an older motor... the timing gets adjusted, and it's running good for a bit, then the timing gears jump and it'll backfire, spit, cough and make life miserable...

Truck cranks but wont start, i have fuel and fire. i changed ditrubutor cap and rotor. some help please

Check to see if the timing chain broke, take out the spark plugs and do a compression test. You can turn it over with the starter and hear and feel the compression coming out of the spark plug holes instead of using a compression gauge. That should tell you if the chain broke.
Or you can lift the rocker cover to see if the rockers move when you turn it over.

Backfiring

No. If you knocked pieces of the chain or sprockets off, you'd not run at all. Check your timing and your idle mix. Also, check to see if your crankcase vent valve is moving freely. Replace if in doubt. Sounds like you may be running rich. Check carb for proper idle mix after you set float levels. Is the carb new, rebuilt or some old hunk? Are the gaskets new or reused? Is the spacer plate the right one for the car and installed correctly?

Also...was the timing chain new and the cam properly indexed? You may have to take the front of the engine apart to find out.
