In the steering wheel? Or front wheels. If you are hearing a clicking noise coming from your front wheels when you turn you have a cv joint that is bad.

Testimonial: "know its not a cv joint, it pops up there the steering wheel when you turn the wheel"

SOURCE: steering wheel squeaking

they do that sometimes...Usually if you take some silicone spray and squirt it all around the area where you can hear the squeak,it will go away.

SOURCE: 2004 chev silverado ext cab. No Power steering

Hi Hollings,

You description was very good, I need to ask for a specific.

When you turn to the left, the wheel is stiff like the engine is off or does it turn smoothly but the vehicle doesn't turn or seem to respond.

I'm trying to rule out broken mounts,

Also, if the wheel is all the way to the right, is it difficult turning back to the left the whole way, or half way. See where I'm going.?

Please comment back your findings

Best regards
Mike

SOURCE: steering wheel hard to turn right but not left at

Check the power steering fluid level. Left is torque side and probably tightens the belt as right it would loosen the belt a little so check the belt for sloppyness too. Hope this helps, The Raz

Why does the steering wheel locks when I try to make a left or right turn in my 2002 Lincoln LS? What is wrong when I hear a grinding noise coming from the engine when I try to make a turn?

the grinding noise is from the steering pump going into overload and the pressure relief valve is working. If you have recently worked on the pump or steering check that the hydraulic lines have correctly installed It appears that when turning right the steering is trying to turn left.

Locks up

Hi,
1. Ensure the gearshift lever is fully in Park. Put foot on brake and move lever fully into Park and try to turn key.

2. Ensure steering wheel isn't locked. Put key in and turn steering wheel to the left and/or right to see if key will turn.

DO NOT FORCE KEY or it may break!

Rpm increases when I turn the steering wheel to the left or right. Neutral or in gear

i think it is normal because the steering wheel is run by the engine thru belt, so when you turn either to left or to the right the rpm will increase or there is a noise engine, unless it is a knocking sound, which is not normal

My 2004 Malibu maxx ls is experiencing a "whining" sound when I drive it over 60kms.... what could it be?

Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. try turning right to left at speed in an s type of pattern this will side load the wheels and probably increse the noise one direction and reduce it the other. you may also feel vibration in the steering wheel.

Clunk sound when turning left in 2005 Chev Malibu

I have 3 2005 Malibus - 1 Maxx LT, 1 Sedan LT, and 1 Sedan LS. All three needed to have the steering rod replaced by 50K miles. You'd feel a muted clunk through the wheel when turning. The other light clunk issue I had with the Maxx was I hit a parking curb and it broke the lower radiator bracket. In certain bumps you'd feel a light clunk. A new $22 bracket fixed the issue and now I make sure I never pull too far into the spaces in the garage at work.
