With key on engine off listen to your fuel pump see if it will prime(you are looking for buzzing sound from fuel pump for few seconds),if it does not do that you need fuel pump,if it does then you need borrow fuel pressure gauge from local auto part store and check the fuel pressure,put the key in ignition on key on,engine off you should get between 37 to 41 PSI

out of time. get piston num. 1 to top dead center on compression stroke then make your rotor on dist. point to #1 and it should fire up. you may have to then turn the dist. some to get in in specs.

Ive replaced the fule pump and fule filter, and replaced the distributer cap and rotor and still wont start and im getting great fule preasure? dont what else to do.
inside the distributor is a pickup coil and if it goes you will get no spark.
best bet is to get a rebuilt distributor it is far easier than taking one apart

My 96 ford taurus is having trouble starting after sits for a while but after i get it going it i can shut it off and start it up right away but when it sits for couple hours it acts like theres no fuel at...
the fule is running back to the fule tank when the engine is not running,,,look around for a "one way fule pipe velve" and fit it in the fule line close to the engine,,,that will put a stop to that,,,

Fuel pump problems. I have replaced my fuel pump on a 1995 chev 2500. Truck will not start unless i prime it with gas. Fuel is not getting to the motor. What am i missing
you may have an air leak in the fule line from the fule tank this is letting fule run back to the tank when you stop the engine running over night check all the fule pipes are air tight and do not have crossed or striped threds on them

Fuel pump kicks on, but car won't start If I put fuel in the carb it starts right up, What could be the problem?
have you took the fule pipe off from the card to see if fule is getting to it? it could also be a blocked fule filter,, or an "emergency stop velve" in the closed poshion,, or even a blocked or sticking carburettor float velve???? if the pump is pumping fule to the carb its got to be inside the carb thats fulty?
