May have melted the fusible link going to the starter. Or blown the main fuse. I dont know the exact location of the fusible link in this truck. What happened is the starter solenoid wire completed it's path to ground without first going thru the solenoid windings.

SOURCE: My P38 Range Rover wont start

Hi Adam,

Bring your vehicle to an auto parts or battery store. Ask if they could perform a 'Load Check' on your battery. This not only checks the voltage, but also the amps, as if it were under the load of turning your engine.

It takes a few seconds and the results are pass or fail. Fail means it's time for a new battery. Pass means we need to look elsewhere.

Comment back the results.

Hope you find this to be very helpful

SOURCE: 1999 range rover se changed fuel pump, truck still

why you have replaced the Fuel pump? who advised you to do so?
be guided as follow 1. on the Engine Side on the top there is a fuel rail for the injectors. turn the ign. key to the second position (on) and check the valve located on the fuel rail if fuel is coming pressurized and still won't work. then open on of the spark plugs wires and check if spark is there. (Be Careful doing that). if no spark then is there any message comes up on the Dash? if not messages then you can check the Crank Sensor if no current being generated from the ign. coils.

SOURCE: my 2005 land rover range rover wont start, all

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Car won't start

Check positive wire at starter make sure its getting good contact and do the same with the ground wire. If both are making good contact and it still won't start the you need a starter.

1998 honda ground wire connection

the starter has one 4 guage wire but this is positive coming from the battery and the ground wire is connected to any part of the engine so the best way or the best thing you can do is follow the ground wire from your battery (black) and see if is connected to the engine some carts they do have one ground wire connected to the bolts holding the starter to the engine also make sure you have connected the positive wire to the starter

99 chevy prizm starter problems

Have you verified the engine will turn over by hand? Disconnect the battery, get a socket that will fit the crankshaft bolt and try to turn the engine over. If OK, reconnect your battery cables, use your digital volt meter, place the negative lead of the meter to the positive battery cable post and the positive meter lead to the start solenoid stud at the starter. You should not see more than 0.5 volts. If you see more than that, your positive cable is bad.
Repeat the same step with the negative cable, result should be the same.
Start there and let me know.
