I have a 1991 Chevy s-10 with the 2.5l motor. It's getting good fuel pressure but is stalling out when you hit the gas. It will idle fine, but will eventually die out. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and changed out the throttle body. help.

Pull a spark plug. Is it black? Stalling on acceleration. Possible cause: vacuum leak; can be detected by spraying water on suspected area. Will produce sound as if drinking from a near empty cup with a straw.
Possibly throttle position sensor. When they go bad, they have a tendency to tell the ecm to release more fuel than needed, flooding the engine, and killing your gas mileage.

Its possible you have some heavy vacuum leaks? I'd inspect every thing well to identify an open line or poor seal drawing air in.
I hope this may have helped,

Yes, there is a Fuel Pump Relay. The Relay is located on the firewall just above the left-hand (even cyclinders) valve cover as viewed from the front of the car. There is also fuel pump test lead attached to the harness at the fuel pump relay. Attach a power wire from the battery to the lead and the fuel pump should come on. If fuel pump comes on, the relay could be bad. Also check the fuel filter located under the passenger side of the truck tucked into the frame rail.

SOURCE: 1994 chevy lumina van. It will start and idle but stalls when gas

you have a fuel pump relay that may be defective, or fuel pump or maybe the crank position sensor,a cam position sensor.the best thing is to have a scan performed with an obd1 scanner and you will know where to start the repair.

Stalls out when gas is let off

You don't say what size engine you have, so diagnostic analysis is a bit difficult. Please supply engine size and answer these questions.

1. After it stalls, do you sometimes smell fuel?
2. Does it restart easily after a stall, or do you have to hold the gas pedal to the floor to restart it?
3. Can you keep it running by working the gas pedal?
4. Has you fuel consumption increased since this began?

I ask these questions because on most engines there is a coolant temperature sensor that the ECM used to control the amount of fuel to the injectors based upon the engine coolant temperature. When the engine is cold it supplied more fuel than when warm. If the sensor malfunctions it tells the ECM that the coolant is -40F
and that causes massive fuel to be supplied. This may not affect a cold start once the engine needs the fuel, but it will flood and stall out the motor when warm. If you can keep the engine running by pressing the gas pedal, you are allowing the motor to rev up and use the extra fuel, but you will find you gas mileage reduces by as much as half.

Jeep Unlimited starts but then stalls immediately

The accelerator is the gas pedal...how are you cranking the gas pedal in park? and, if it only stays running when you are doing this how are you "ready to go"? Was the battery tested? if the engine turns over (cranks) when you turn the key, likely there is nothing wrong with it. If you can drive it after doing whatever you do to get it running, it's doubtful that the ignition switch is bad. If it runs well after you get it started, it has nothing to do with spark plugs.
Fuel pump may be draining back and loosing pressure but you need to have pressure tests done to verify that. If you cannot crank the engine in neutral, I'd check the neutral safety switch....it should start in either park or neutral. The pump and switch are about $200 apiece...good idea to test them before spending money not to fix the problem!!!
Hope I got this right...your post is a bit confusing.

Car stalls

the problem sounds like it is not getting enough of fuel. check or replace fuel filter to see if this helps, also make sure fuel pump is pumping the fuel at the right pressure. have pressure checked if need be. if not enough fuel a vehicle will run at idle, but stall under pressure.

Starting problem

Check your fuel pressure and volume. It that's ok, check your throttle position sensor. You can check it with a hand held scanner.
Good luck. Phil

My truck is had to start or stalling

Hello,

I have had to work on those chevy trucks that do this 9 times out of 10 the throttle body needs cleaned. you can trace the throttle boddy by seeing when somebody pushes the gas pedal in the cable opens up the throttle body, the correct way is to take it off completly and get carb cleaner or kerosene and a old tooth brush and scrub it out but if you just want to get quick results leave it on and by carb cleaner or that type of a spray and sparay some in there scrub what you can reach and start the car or spray some while its running just BE CAREFULL !!! Any questions let me know and please rate me if you get a chance..

Thanks,
Steve

Car stalls out while running

It sounds like it's not getting enough fuel to the engine if it stalls when you let up off the gas pedal but stays running with your foot on the gas it sounds like you need a new fuel pump and or fuel filter for the car.I can almost garantee thats part of the problem

Motor bogs down at stoplight when pushin gas pedal

The fuel pump relay will cause a stalling or no start condition. You are likely having mass airflow sensor, fuel pump, or fuel pressure regulator issues.

Engine stalling on a 2002 chevy tahoe z71

Still sounds like a fuel problem. Try a full tank of supreme gas, plus put a can of SEAFOAM into the tank to help clean you injectors. See if this will help clear up your problem. Did you change the plugwires????
