That little black box is tha heater resistor block. power goes into it and comes out the different speeds what ever the switch is turned to. it sounds like all the resistor coils inside the block have blown, quite common on all cars.just to make sure the motor is still ok follow the cables that go from the block into the motor , only 2 put power on one of them and earth out the other one and the motor should run at full speed . if it does change the resistor block and all the speeds should then work. hope this helps.

Air and heat blower will not come on. 1998 sonoma 2.2l

start by checking fuse. if fuse is good, aquire a test light, check the test light on the battery to make sure the test light works. Power to ground = light. access blower motor under pass-side dash panel.(probablly have to remove underdash cover, secured with pop-in style fasteners.) locate blower motor. 2 wires w/connector Purple-power, black-ground. check for power at purple w/test light on known good ground, with ign on, and blower switch on high. if it has power, hook clip of test light to a power source, ( + on battery w a jumper wire) and probe black wire, with test light. if no light, jumper that wire to a good ground. if it lights, you have a bad b-motor. if no light on power side of blower motor, and fuse is good, check power to swith. blower circuit may have 2 fuses. 1 for high and a 2nd for the lower speeds. if switch has power to it, and power is transfered to another wire when switched, suspect the blower motor resistor. Blower stays on when car is turned off won't stop running until I disconnect the battery cable, tried the blower fuse that didn't work. 1995 olds auroa

If you pulled the 10 amp fuse in the I/P fuse block and the blower still worked than the the blower motor module is most likely the problem. It is fed by a 30 amp fus4e in the fuse block under the rear seat. That fuse is always hot and always supply power to the blower motor module. If you pull that fuse and the blower stops than it's pretty likely the blower module is the problem.

The blower module is located near the blower motor. It is usually held in place with 2 screws and will have four or five wires at the connector.

When i turn the air on in the front it wont work.but if i turn it on in the back it works just fine.sometimes i can kinda hear it come out the front but nothing is comming out

If you mean you can't hear the fan running in the front, but can hear it run in the back? I think thats what you're saying. There are 2 separate fans. If the front fan works on high speed only, its the blower resistor at fault, usually has a burnt resistor. If no fan speed on any settings, then the front blower motor is faulty. both are common problems. Both are assessable under the passenger side dash, behind lower panel. Find the blower motor and check for power on the purple wire and good ground on the black wire (test light if available) if good power, needs blower motor.

The heater fan just stopped...

Check fuse #14(10amp) located in fuse box under driver steering wheel behind the lower dash cover.
Check fuse#12(40amp) located in fuse box under hood.
Replace fuse(s) if any are blow.

If fuse are good.Check blower and transisto next.
Do steps 1-3 with turn key on
1. Unplug connector and check for 12v at the blue/white wire at the blower motor(2-NAT)
-if there's no voltage you might have a bad relay or open in the wire
-if there's about 12v, go to step 2
2.Plug connector for blower motor and unplug connector for blower transistor(4-NAT). Take a jumper wire and jump the blue/black wire to body ground.
-if blower does not run, replace blower motor
-if blower motor runs, go to step 3
3.check the black wire at(4-NAT) for good ground.
-if you have good ground, then replace blower motor transistor.
good luck

Installing a blower motor

Hi there,

The blower is right in front of the glove box. Remove the glove box, unplug and test for voltage first on the blue/white wire and make sure it not just a bad fan switch, they go bad more than the blowers do. If there is sufficient voltage, you can reconnect it and jumper the blue/black wire to ground, if there isn't enough voltage, do not run as the blower is bad.

Hope this helps. Best of luck...

I have a 2003 buick Regal and the blower motor went out. I have power in the fuse box and power out of the resister/module and power going into the blower motor....does this mean the motor is bad, or...

test the ground and if you have power and ground to the motor take a 3057 bulb bend the wires (there are 4 wires on the bulb 2 wires on front and 2 on the back take one wire off the back and one on the front bend them down and twist together and then do on the other side of bulb) unplug motor and put bulb in to wire plug that goes int motor turn blower to high and if bulb is bright the motor is bad if it is dim you have high resistance in the wiring. or plug motor in turn it on high and tap motor with hammer see if it starts to blow it is a little unorthodox but it works better than you think.

I changed the blower motor and resistor on my 2005 grand prix and motor still not working-inside fuse is ok..is there another fuse under the hood? What else could be wrong?

doesnt work on all speeds? ck the big purple wire at the blower motor, on high speed, it should have battery voltage, if it does, then check the black wire, it should have "0" volts (or ground it, see if it then works). If the purple wire does not have power then fuse #30 (30 amp) may be bad.If the black wire has more than "0" volts then the ground may be bad or the "blower motor control processor" =( resistor) is bad, or the ground for it is bad. the ground wire ends up at the cross beam behind radio. If you ground the black wire at the resistor, and it works, then you have a bad ground at the wire, behind the radio. Good Luck.
