Blown or clogged oil pump. The tapping noise may be a bearing or lifter, I would not run it until problem is fixed, you could blow a piston rod out the side of your engine. check the oil pump to see if is operating. if not, replace.

I have a 2002 ford f150 supercrewcab 4door 4.6 ltr. that has what sounds like lifters tapping, I took a piece of garden hose and listened to different parts of the motor trying to locate the tapping noise,...

Injectors do make quite a racket but mostly they are so well insulated they can't be heard inside the car and in the engine compartment the noise just becomes part of the general engine noise.
I have noticed a few cars where the use of semi-rigid (nylon) fuel supply and return pipes transmit the noise to the bulkhead/firewall which magnifies the sound.

I have a 2004 ford f150 making a tapping noies can it be the cam phasers going bad

check oil level ---yes it can but tapping noise can be a lot more reasons --worn oil -low oil pressure--low oil level--rocker loose-worn or damaged lifter-worn damaged valves --timing chain --water pump--pulley --really anything can cause a tapping noise --try to isolate the area or sound and diagnose problem

Sudden loud noise

Not a vacuum hose. If it is coming from the top of the motor, I would first check the oil. If there is a hole punched into the oil pan , you may be very low on oil. If oil's fine, I would suggest looking at the transmission housing. If the manhole came up and hit the housing, it may have cracked that, or cracked the fly wheel. One more thing I'm thinking is that if the manhole hit your starter, and pushed it up, It may have cracked the fly wheel. This can make it sound like it's at the top of the motor. Very loud tap tap tap tap. If you excellerate, the noise will go faster too. I just can't see a manhole doing any damage to anything in the top of motor. Make sure you check the oil ASAP. Hard to tell without hearing it. A video would even help. Let me know what you come up with. Good luck

This is my subaru impreza gx (non turbo) it's just developed a ticking/tapping noise I've checked the oil and that was fine. The noise isn't a constant thing. It seams to get faster when accelerating

You possibly have a valve tap, do you rip on your motor a lot? If so you may have messed up the valve gauge and it could possibly be hitting the piston at a minuscule amount just enough to make a tapping noise.

When u start the car it got a tapping noise and the oil pours out but u can drive it when u push the gas the noise gets louder

dont drive it or youll lock up the motor. the tapping noise means your not getting oil to the motor. you need to see where the oil is leaking from

My 03 trailblazer just had oil and oil filter changed light still on and still has lack of power and makes rough sound when acclerating more rpms put in it faster noise gets

Oil light still on? means no oil pressure! If motor is tap , tap , tapping , Your gonna burn up your motor.May be oil pump, not going to like that bill.

Engine Tapping

Could be a lifter.. The lifters are what opens & closes the valves.. Oil passes through a tube in each lifter.. If the tube is clogged the oil wont get through and cause the tapping noise..

Ticking noise in engine and blue smoke in exhaust

the tapping are the lifts tapping because there is no oil getting to the top of the motor. the blue smoke is the oil burning.could be the head gasket is going bad or the piston rings are done in.
