You need to tear it down and see how much damage you caused, but sounds like a new long block is in order.

When the car blew the antifreeze out the motor got very hot -this probably destroyed the rings and cylinders of at least a couple of cylinders-the clanking noise is possibly a bad rod bearing-your motor needs to be completely re built-or a remaufactured motor installed-sorry Denny

Check or have the electric cooling fan or fans checked, to see if they are coming on, and the radiator cap checked. You've done everything else.

My heater on my 95 ford windstar blows cold air not hot what is it

Thermostat and change your radiator cap, if your adding antifreeze alot than it may be a blow head gasket. I was loosing antifreeze out my tail pipe, tried fiberlock http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/K-W-Products-32-oz-FiberLock-head-gasket-and-block-repair/_/N-255s?itemIdentifier=249495 and it worked. Make sure your upper and lower hoses are good and not squishy. I did the thermostat the radiator cap and hoese and I got my car working. I have 224,000. on my windstar and still going strong. And windstars are not know to live lone because of there head gaskets. Good luck.

Van wont stay running

No you are on the wrong way,the cylinder head gasket have gone,it is burnt you need to take out the cylinder head ,then you will see the oil passage and water passage meet together because the gasket is not good, hope that clear your mind.

How can i tell if my ford windstar needs the head gaskets changed?

overheating, white smoke from tail pipe(ignore this one during cold weather), oil is light brown or milky looking which indicates water in the oil, and of course loosing coolant when there is no coolant leak
