Most gear knobs screw on/off. There will be a chrome ring/ nut under the base of the knob that has to be screwed further down to allow you to turn the knob. It is in effect a lock nut to keep the knob in the position you set it.
Hi, I am also looking to remove the gear knob on my maruti swift (2009), but the thing is not ready to move a centimeter.. Did you finally succeed in pulling it out. Please update !
Contact an automotive recycler (junkyard) to see if they will sell you one. Often you can buy one that fits (but looks different) from an auto parts store like AutoZone or Checker.
DOWN THE BOTTOM OF THE GEAR KNOB THERE MIGHT BE A SMALL HOLE WHICH WILL BE A GRUB SCREW IF SO PLACE THE ALAN KEY INTO SMALL HOLE AND UNDO DO NOT REMOVE AS IT IS VERY HARD TO PUT BACK THEN THE GEAR KNOB SHOULD BE TURNED ANTICLOCKWISE AS IT IS ON A THREAD AND SIMPLY KEEP TURNING UNTILL IT COME OFF
